There's something special about watching our students on the mat, practicing the same poomsae again and again until it feels just right, and lining up for one more board break with a little more confidence each time. That's exactly what we saw at Sunday's Open Mat as they worked with our instructors to get ready for the tournament. Their focus, their determination, and the way they cheered each other on filled our hearts. We are so proud of every one of them, and we can't wait to see all that hard work shine.

Come cheer them on Sunday, Nov 8 at Somers High School (120 Primrose St, Lincolndale, NY 10540).

There's one more special reason to be there this year: my own Grandmaster, the man who trained me, will be joining us at the tournament. This is a meaningful opportunity for our students to meet him in person and be in his presence — not something that comes around often.

Important — Mandatory Attendance

This tournament is a mandatory event for all 2026 Black Belt Candidates. It is also mandatory for our students who earned their Black Belt in 2025 — your presence and support on the mat matter just as much now as they did during your own journey. Please plan to attend and be there for your fellow students.

We'll see you all there on Sunday! 11/8
