❤️ SOME PLACES LEAVE MORE THAN MEMORIES. THEY LEAVE A MARK ON YOUR HEART.
As my first season here in Wisconsin comes to an end, I've been doing a lot of reflecting.
This was my very first year workamping. My very first assignment. When I pulled in here, I honestly had NO idea what to expect.
I didn't know what the work would be like, what challenges I'd face, or what kind of people I'd meet along the way.
What I certainly didn't expect was how much this place, and the people here, would come to mean to me.
I've worked some long days, learned a lot, shared plenty of laughs, and made memories I'll carry with me for the rest of my life.
But what stands out the most isn't the work.
It's the people. ❤️
When I lost my girl Neytiri back in August, I was devastated. And during one of the hardest moments of my life, the people here showed me a level of kindness and compassion I never could have expected.
I can't even begin to count how many hugs I received. How many people checked on me. How many kind words were shared.
I even had some truly amazing coworkers offer to help pay for her cremation.
People who had only known me for a few months showed up for me when I needed it most.
That is something I will NEVER forget.
I've spent a lot of years working in a lot of different places, but I can genuinely say this experience has been different.
I'm leaving Wisconsin with far more than I arrived with. Not in possessions or money, but in friendships, memories, and a renewed appreciation for the goodness in people.
To my coworkers, the seasonal campers, the friends I've made, and every single person who has been part of this journey...
THANK YOU. FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.
I'm truly humbled by the kindness, generosity, and friendship you've shown me.
In just one season, this place has become so much more than somewhere I worked.
It's become somewhere I'll always feel connected to.
And while I'm excited for the next chapter of Forged by Miles, I can promise you one thing...
A piece of my heart will always be right here in Wisconsin. ❤️
This may have been my first year workamping, but because of all of you, I know it won't be my last.
Until we meet again, thank you for making this first chapter something I'll never forget.
In retrospect......i need to take way more pictures with people lol
