✭ Cowboys schedule over the next week:

* WEDNESDAY: Practice in Frisco
* THURSDAY: Practice in Frisco, depart for Rio de Janeiro around 8 p.m.
* FRIDAY: Land in the morning around 9/9:30am AST, practice at Flamengo

* SUNDAY: Game at 5:25 p.m. local time, fly back to DFW shortly after the game
* MONDAY: Land at DFW in the morning

✭Cowboys already have ruled out CB Cobie Durant (hamstring strain), S Malik Ho**er (forearm), S P.J. Locke (plantar fasciitis), and LB DeMarvion Overshown (hamstring) for Sunday’s game in Brazil vs. the Ravens.

✭Cowboys have a light practice on the grass today before heading to the airport tonight for the roughly 10-hour flight to Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival, they’ll head to their hotel and have a practice at Flamengo Friday afternoon.

✭CB Shavon Revel Jr. and S Markquese Bell will get starts this week as injury replacements.

✭ HC Brian Schottenheimer commended CB Shavon Revel Jr. and S Markquese Bell preparation this week in advance of Sunday's game in Rio:

"They're both pros. Markquese has been around a long time. He's attacking this the exact right way that you would expect. It's good because the plan for us is easier because we can put those guys in spots. We're featuring what they do really, really well. I thought both guys having played and getting that experience last week was good, but it'll definitely be different and we're not going to play perfect. We're not going to coach perfect, but at the end of the day, we feel really good about the plan and both of those guys' preparation."

✭HC Brian Schottenheimer mentioned most of the Cowboys players will likely wear the seven-stud cleats in Brazil to adjust for that field.

✭HC Brian Schottenheimer on Dallas’ tough schedule with all of the travel over the next few weeks:

“I’d be a hypocrite if I said I think it’s a tough task. But we’re up to it. We’re mentally tough. We need to be. This is a long season, and I can’t be a win the day type guy and be angry about it. But in reality, it’s a long trip, come home, Houston, short week.

“But we’re going to win today and then we’re going to (Brazil) and we’re going to win Friday and Saturday and play a really good team and hopefully win that. But you got to stay in the moment. It does require mental toughness. The schedule is the schedule and we will play anybody anytime, anywhere. But it’s unique schedule for sure.”

✭Cowboys currently have $21,461,001 in cap space (8th in cap).

✭ Cowboys schedule over the next week:

✭ Cowboys CB Cobie Durant (hamstring strain) and S P.J. Locke (plantar fasciitis) will be out for multiple weeks.

✭HC Brian Schottenheimer says Cobie Durant (hamstring) will start on field rehab today. S P.J. Locke (foot) is out of a walking boot and progressing. LB DeMarvion Overshown (hamstring) is "making good progress," but there's "low probability" he plays on Sunday.

✭HC Brian Schottenheimer all business for the Brazil trip:

"I'm not planning any touristy attractions."

✭HC Brian Schottenheimer on rookie LB Jaishawn Barham. "This guy's really smart, really bright. He understands schemes and concepts. I don't know how many rookie LBs have worn the green dot within their first two career games."

✭ HC Brian Schottenheimer had a very detailed answer when asked about how unique Derrick Henry is as a running back in this league:

"Very unique. I've competed against him a couple of times. I laugh because you don't realize how big he is unless you're truly standing out there on the field watching this guy. The fans, unfortunately, unless they're down there field level, they don't realize how big Derrick is, but the speed is real. The violence that he runs with is real. His stiff arm is real. We all remember the clip where he stiff arms Josh Norman in Tennessee and he buries him into the ground. He's a unique individual. He's a unique athlete. The key to Derrick is, in my opinion, you have to not let him get started. If he gets seen and he gets started, he's able to press the hole and put his foot in the ground, that's a problem because of what I've said. You have to junk up the front for him and make it to where he can't press his hole and build up the full speed because he is a big guy. So if you slow him down a little bit, it's harder for him to get to top speed. Now, once he gets to top speed, I don't know if many people are going to catch him. So, that's the big thing for us is we can't give them seams in the running game. We have to create some knock backs, some movement, display some color for them so the reads aren't clean."

✭HC Brian Schottenheimer thinks Dallas’ current defensive system is a great fit for DT Quinnen Williams.

Schottenheimer today when asked about Williams going from a scheme where he was getting up field more to one where he’s reading more blocks: “I think it’s a great fit. I understand the question. I think right now we haven’t played well enough on defense. But when Quinnen Williams knows he’s getting singled, I think that’s a good thing for us.

“We have times where he has to play gap-and-a-half as we call it. So he’s got to fit and hold the B-gap and then he’s going to react. We have those, but we also have times where we allow him to take his shot. I think it’s more of just it being new to the system. He’s played in this system before at Alabama.

“There’s certainly some of the best defensive tackles in the league, which we think Quinnen is, that are in this system. One is 30-something years old (Aaron Donald), just came back to L.A. a couple weeks ago. He’s in this system. Jalen Carter’s in this system. So, I think it’s more of Quinnen is a great player and he’s going to find his way in this system.”

✭HC Brian Schottenheimer at the end of his news conference today: “I do want to say this, it would be my dad’s 83rd birthday, so I want to say I love you pops and I’m going to have a chocolate milkshake for you.”

✭Today’s Practice began outside for individual drills before moving inside team drills.

✭OLB Marist Liufau (forearm) did some conditioning work since he broke his forearm in the preseason.
