As a youth coach and trainer with over 20 years of experience, I have dedicated my career to helping young basketball players develop their foundational skills. By focusing on fundamentals first, I can help any young person become an all around better player. It has been my privilege to watch so many of my trainees go on to play at the junior high, high school, and college level. I started Coach Deon Fundamental Youth Training in The Woodlands, Texas to provide a wide selection of programs including: private lessons ,group lessons, camps, clinics, shooting workouts, and ball-handling classes. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player, I have a program for you. I can provide a short-term training crash course for a casual player and I can also serve as a coach and mentor to players who wish to improve their entire basketball skill set over the course of time. BUILD THE SKILL. APPLY THE SKILL.

Our Weekend Basketball Clinics are designed to help players develop their skills and then use them in live basketball situations.

Each 2-hour Saturday clinic is built around:

75% Skill Development
Ballhandling, shooting, footwork, finishing, movement, and repetition.

25% Guided Play
1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 situations that help players make decisions, compete, adjust, and apply what they are learning.

The goal is to help players build stronger skills, more confidence, and a better understanding of how to use those skills in the game.

Sometimes the best next step is learning the game the right way — ball handling, footwork, passing, shooting fundamentals, movement, and how to play with confidence.

That’s the purpose of Fundamentals First.

It gives newer players a structured place to learn, get meaningful repetitions, make mistakes, improve, and keep growing.
