Did you brush your teeth today? Yea - you did a station! Ok, ok, not a *gymnastics* station, but you did something today that will always be important. Just like the fundamentals practiced in "stations". The bar stations are shaping, working on the gymnasts learning to feel where their body should be for different skills. The vaulting station focused on the block off the table and the hurdle leading up to the board. These basics are something we focus on no matter what level because they never stop being important!

4 days. This gymnast only has 1 week to learn a new routine and it's been 4 days. Why? Because she knows what she wants and sometimes (yeah, a LOT of times) we have to work really, really hard for what we want.
She wants to go to college for gymnastics - or go elite. So, she is working on moving up the different levels, tested out of one last weekend and hopes to test out of another one this weekend. 1 week to learn that new routine, 1 week to pass that next level. You got it!!

What are we training here? This is dance, an important part of performance in beam, floor and overal posture. It became even more imporatant this year when the artistry code changed, and it now heavily impacts the ex*****on score. Judges can take off additional points for weak artistic presentation, so we are focuisng on building these skills. How is your Chassé? (Peep the boys working on the mushroom in the background!) Did you know?....We host parties! Kids can have free time on the equipment and floor, we can create games and we even have nerf gun battles available. We've heard from parents that the kids actually like these parties... 😆😂 More info in comments.

Do you know what the hardest part of gymnastics is? It's not the time commitment or traveling for competition or even the punishing physical requirements. It's the mental game. It's losing your confidence and trust in your brain and body, the second guessing yourself and frustration. I tell the kids it's ok to be scared do it while scared. We can start all the way back at basics and do a lot of visualizing doing the skill perfectly. And with patience, we keep trying because failing doesn't mean failure. It means you don't give up. What you see here is a breakthrough!
