What are we training here? This is dance, an important part of performance in beam, floor and overal posture. It became even more imporatant this year when the artistry code changed, and it now heavily impacts the ex*****on score. Judges can take off additional points for weak artistic presentation, so we are focuisng on building these skills. How is your Chassé? (Peep the boys working on the mushroom in the background!) Do you know what the hardest part of gymnastics is? It's not the time commitment or traveling for competition or even the punishing physical requirements. It's the mental game. It's losing your confidence and trust in your brain and body, the second guessing yourself and frustration. I tell the kids it's ok to be scared do it while scared. We can start all the way back at basics and do a lot of visualizing doing the skill perfectly. And with patience, we keep trying because failing doesn't mean failure. It means you don't give up. What you see here is a breakthrough!

How do you learn new things in gymnastics? One step, one rotation, one bounce at a time. Looking back at some skills built at camp: TicTok back handspring, cast handstand, front walk over, double front, front tuck, back handspring, tsuk vault, round off back handspring layout half.

We finished out Day 2 camp at NC NGA with some hard work and amazing gymnasts! Look out for some "live action" next. 😁...

Due to the high temperatures today all classes are cancelled to keep our athletes safe!
