Our customers' needs are very straightforward. They need their wind turbines to be repaired with high safety and quality, and they want it done as soon as possible, in order to minimize downtime. It's really that simple.
Our customers don't request large cranes. They just want their turbines fixed. That's why we always endeavour to perform large corrective repairs in such a way to minimize the size of the cranes. In terms of efficiency and cost-effectiveness, it just makes sense.
During this project, which we are currently performing in the midwest USA, we are replacing the pitch bearings on GE2.8-127 wind turbines. We're using an LTM1450 to handle the tips of the blades, and the roots of the blades are gently lifted by a tiny GenHook™ LT crane. In this way, we're performing a complex repair while also minimizing the amount of equipment.
And at the same time, we're minimizing our footprint on the ground, so that this healthy corn crop can be harvested in the fall.

Around the world, billions of people are aware of the Parthenon, the famous ancient Greek temple in the city of Athens, Greece, built around 2,500 years ago to honor the Greek goddess Athena. But did you know that there is a replica of the Parthenon in Nashville, Tennessee?
Three years ago, the LiftWerx Flag of Adventure visited the Ancient Greek Parthenon at the Acropolis. But this week, the LiftWerx Flag of Adventure was also raised at America's replica Parthenon. Proudly bearing the Flag is Steven Armstrong, who is a computer engineer and virtual-reality software developer at LiftWerx.
This replica of the original Parthenon functions as an art museum, and stands as the centerpiece of Centennial Park, a public park just west of downtown Nashville. The full-scale building is complete and its decorations were polychromed as close to the presumed original colors as possible. It serves as a monument to what is considered by many to be the pinnacle of classical architecture.

Congratulations to Team 695, who this week, safely performed their first rotor lift on a 114-meter tower at a wind farm in the USA.
This team has been contracted to exchange the hub of this wind turbine, a complex repair which is not very common. Thanks for a great job, guys!

Our team arrived at this wind turbine last Friday. Over the weekend, the gearbox was already safely exchanged, and team is now working efficiently to recommission the tower, which will be back online very shortly.
All work was performed by a single LiftWerx team. There are no large mobile cranes to be seen. And the only equipment on site fits into three small ISO shipping containers.
This is what efficiency and world-class performance looks like.

At our headquarters in Cambridge, our teams are commissioning, packing, testing, and training for another new team deployment.
Today, at left, we assembled GenHook™ 772 on a wind turbine nacelle for the very first time.
In the meantime, our test tower (at right) is being readied to perform an overload test on a brand new turbine interface, which is scheduled to be completed tomorrow. This "FRISE" base is our newest interface technology, a Lean initiative which will further help to our teams to install up-tower cranes more safely and efficiently than ever before.
Deployment of this new RotorHook™ team is scheduled for mid-August. Stay tuned for more details!

The LiftWerx Flag of Adventure has been raised at the spectacular Othello Tunnels in Coquihalla Canyon Park, just outside Hope, British Columbia, Canada. Proudly bearing the Flag is LiftWerx's Ian MacRobbie.
Carved through solid granite between 1913 and 1916, these four railway tunnels formed part of the legendary Kettle Valley Railway (KVR)—a Canadian Pacific Railway project built to connect the BC Coast with the Kootenay Region, opening new opportunities for communities throughout the Okanagan Valley, and supporting the growing mining industry of southern British Columbia.
Construction wasn't easy. Labour shortages brought on by the First World War slowed progress, and at a cost of approximately $300,000 per mile, sections of the railway became the most expensive railway line ever constructed in Canada at the time.
The tunnels were completed in 1914 under the direction of Chief Engineer Andrew McCulloch, whose passion for Shakespeare inspired the names of nearby stations along the line: Othello, Lear, Iago, Romeo, Juliet, and more.
Today, visitors can walk through all four tunnels, including the longest at 170 metres (~550 feet), while standing above the dramatic 90-metre (300-foot) Coquihalla Canyon. Even on a calm summer day, it's easy to appreciate the ingenuity, determination, and courage it took to build this remarkable piece of Canadian engineering more than a century ago.
