⚾🏆 2026 Venice High School Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee

Please join us in celebrating Mark Guthrie as a member of the 2nd Annual Venice High School Athletics Hall of Fame Class! 💚🤍

One of the most accomplished baseball players in Venice High School history, Guthrie left his mark on the Indians’ record books and went on to achieve success at the collegiate and professional levels.

⚾ Guthrie still holds the Venice High School record with 17 strikeouts in a single game.

After his standout career at Venice, he continued his baseball journey at LSU, helping lead the Tigers to College World Series appearances in 1986 and 1987. In 1986, he earned First Team All-SEC honors and led the Southeastern Conference in strikeouts.

Guthrie was selected in the 7th round of the 1987 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins and went on to enjoy a successful Major League career, highlighted by becoming a World Series Champion with the Twins in 1991. 🏆

His impact on the game extends far beyond his playing career. Guthrie has continued to give back to the Venice community as a founder of the Holiday Baseball Clinic, alongside Craig Faulkner and Jack Voight, helping inspire and develop future generations of young baseball players.

From Venice High School to LSU to the Major Leagues, Mark Guthrie’s career represents a tremendous legacy of excellence, achievement, and giving back to the game and community.
