Hello who needs done?

❄️🐾 THE SALT ON YOUR SIDEWALK MAY BE HURTING MORE THAN JUST YOUR PET’S PAWS.

When winter ice arrives, many of us reach for rock salt without thinking about what happens after it hits the ground.

But salty slush and scattered granules can irritate paws, damage nearby plants, and pose a poisoning risk to birds and other animals that ingest enough salt.

🌿 HERE’S WHAT TO USE INSTEAD:

❌ ROCK SALT: Can irritate paws and harm plants. Ingesting too much can be dangerous for animals.

✅ SAND: Adds traction on slippery paths without melting ice.

✅ PLAIN, NON-CLUMPING KITTY LITTER: Can provide extra grip, though it won't melt ice and may become messy when wet.

✅ CALCIUM MAGNESIUM ACETATE: An alternative de-icer that is generally less damaging to vegetation, though no product is completely risk-free.

⚠️ BE CAREFUL WITH “PET-SAFE” LABELS: The ingredients still matter. Follow the product directions and wipe your dog's paws after walks.

🐾 4 SIMPLE WAYS TO HELP:
• Shovel snow early, before it turns to ice.
• Use only the amount of de-icer you need.
• Wipe or rinse your pet's paws after walks.
• Keep bird feeders and birdbaths away from treated areas.

A little prevention can make winter safer for pets, backyard birds, and the plants around your home. ❤️

👇 What do you use on your sidewalks in winter — rock salt, sand, or something else?
