We teed it up at our annual Ken Murphy Memorial Open (KMMO) to celebrate the legacy of our founder, Ken Murphy! ⛳

We had a fantastic turnout with 18 adaptive golfers enjoying a perfect fall day on the course.

Two years ago, a workplace accident changed Jon Arce’s life. Following his injury, the Stratford father of two began his rehabilitation at Ga***rd Specialty Healthcare.

It was there that Jon was introduced to adaptive sports through Ga***rd Sports Association. With a background in hunting, archery was a natural fit. What started as a new opportunity has become a goal that takes him to the range for hours of practice each week.

Today, Jon spends up to 20 hours a month refining his technique, working toward his goal of earning a spot on the United States Paralympic Team for LA 2028.

“This (Archery) definitely gave me some of my life back,” Jon told FOX61.

🏆 The Ga***rd Warriors Take 3rd Place!

The Ga***rd Warriors traveled to Victory, NY, this past weekend for their first tournament of the season, The Wrecking Ball Tournament, held October 17-18.

The team finished 3rd out of 8 teams and earned some well-deserved individual recognition along the way!

Today, we celebrated the inaugural Tim McCloskey Memorial Scholarship for Ga***rd Sports Association and its first recipient, Joe Stone. 💚

Created through an endowment gift from the McCloskey Family Foundation for Spinal Cord Injury, the $5,000 annual scholarship supports adaptive sports and recreation for athletes with spinal cord injury.

Joe has been part of the Ga***rd Sports Association since 2015 and has become a leader within the Ga***rd Warriors wheelchair rugby team as a captain, mentor and advocate for adaptive sports. This year, the scholarship will help support his continued participation with the Warriors, including new wheels for his rugby chair and travel expenses for competition.

In 2002, Tim McCloskey experienced an accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. But his injury did not define him. He spent 20 years working as a counselor at Country Kids in Brookfield, where he devoted himself to helping young people. The $5,000 annual scholarship carries that spirit forward by helping adaptive athletes participate in the sports they love, building confidence, independence, friendships and community along the way.

We were honored to celebrate Joe alongside Tim’s parents, Joe and Jeanette, and his aunt Katherine, and to carry forward Tim’s legacy by helping make adaptive sports opportunities possible for athletes in our community.

Congratulations, Joe! And thank you to the McCloskey family for making this scholarship possible. 💚
