Today we welcome our friends from Holy Redeemer Varsity Field Hockey to our facility for a practice session. If you can’t get on your field because of the rain, we are renting our facility out to local teams to be able to get their practices in. The schedule is getting a little tight so reach out if you have a need! We are looking forward to having you ladies!

Just a little reminder✨

Being brave isn’t always about pushing yourself in the hard moments of sports. Brave is talking to the person sitting alone at lunch, standing up for someone, leaning on a friend or staying true to yourself even when it is the unpopular thing to do. Brave can be taking a much needed rest, admitting you are struggling or being a leader when no one is watching. Brave is so many things, try and find your brave today.

Your sport should be a release — not another source of stress.

It should be a place where you can compete, grow, make mistakes, learn, laugh, and be surrounded by people who want to see you succeed. There will always be pressure and very hard days, those hard days can shape you into a stronger person. The game you love should never feel like something you have to carry all alone.

If you’re struggling, talk to someone. Talk to a teammate. Talk to your parents. Talk to your coach. Don’t be afraid to Ask for help.

We share posts like this because sharing struggles felt socially unacceptable when we were playing many years ago. For some of us high school hockey was extremely painful and the quest for perfection was such a dangerous road many of us walked down. We never want another athlete to feel that way.

Being a strong athlete isn’t about pretending everything is okay. Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is lean on someone else. So we will continue to share messages like this because the world needs so much more of it.

If you are a coach following along, keep in mind that this sport has gotten a little out of control lately with social media amplifying every little move. It’s all a little too much sometimes. Showing athletes that you care goes a very long way, they are playing in a time that is so much louder than we ever did.
