We had to say goodbye to Patrick tonight as he's moving out of the country. His parting gift was nearly 100 push ups, so we're also rethinking those heartfelt goodbyes.
We'll miss you Patrick, but we know that you'll not only thrive, but excel at this new chapter in your life, and you'll always have a home at CFFA! 🤺❤️🤺❤️🤺❤️
🤺RESULTS🤺:
🤺Coach Spahr traveled down to Charleston for Edge of America Fencing Club's Pirate Olympics for the E and under epee.
He went 1- 4 in the pool round and won his first DE, then upset the #2 seed, who had been undefeated in the pools. Unfortunately, he lost his 2nd DE and ended up 8/19.
In the Open Sabre he ended up 1 -5 in the pool and lost his first DE 10-15, to come in 6th.
🤺🤺CLUB UPDATES🤺🤺:
🤺Basic summer practice schedule this week with the main practices on Tuesday and Thursday night, practices most Saturdays.
🤺🤺🤺GARAGE? BASEMENT? SALE🤺🤺🤺:
While supplies last, we are selling our club jackets and knickers to our members for $5. Bring it to one of the officers and let us check it to make certain it still passes safety and other regulations, and it will be yours.
🤺🤺🤺🤺INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE🤺🤺🤺🤺:
We have been informed of another Italian fencer looking for a host family. Her name is Chiara and she looks to be a right hand pommeling French grip epeeist. She says she also likes the beach and subjects like biology, psychology, sociology, and anthropology. She is looking for a whole year placement but is also looking for a Welcome Family.
This would be a placement from August to about Halloween, which would give the organization time to finalize the rest of the year somewhere else. If anyone is interested, let us know and we will put you in contact with the CIIE representative.
See you at practice tonight! 🤺🤺🤺🤺

To solve this issue we are going to be selling our club jackets and knickers to our members for $5. If you have that favorite jacket that you absolutely swear is the only one that fits, now is your time to grab it. Bring it to one of the officers and let us check it to make certain it still passes safety and other regulations, hand us your Abe Lincoln, and it will be yours. First come first served.

🤺RESULTS🤺:
🤺We had a number of people travel to Apex for the Miller Memorial tournament. For the large strong A2 open foil event,
🤺Thoren D. went 0-5 in the pools and lost his first DE to finish 30th.
🤺Walter D. was 1-4 and lost his DE to finish 25th.
🤺Joel E. followed a similar path to finish 24th.
All the DEs were losses to As and Bs.
🤺Patrick G. was 4-2 in his pool and won his first DE before losing the second to finish 13th.
🤺For the A2 open epee Brendan McConville was 4-1 in the pool, earned a bye in the first round and lost a close 2nd round DE to finish 18th.
🤺Patrick was 4-2 in the pool, also earned a first round bye, and won his first fenced DE. He then lost to the eventual silver medalist and finished twelfth.
🤺In the final event, a D and under foil, Thoren was 1-3 in his pool, lost his DE and finished 12th.
🤺Walter was 3-1 in his pool, won his first DE, but lost his second to finish 6th overall.
However, they based the medals on gender and Walter therefore won one of the men's bronze medals.
Good fencing by everyone in one of the nastier events in the area! 🤺🤺🤺
