As we celebrate Independence Day, we are reminded of the traditions, craftsmanship, and freedoms that have helped shape our country.

For 150 years, the Massachusetts Rifle Association has helped preserve and advance the tradition of American marksmanship. Founded in 1875 by Civil War veterans, the MRA is the oldest continuously operating gun club in the United States.

From its historic home at Walnut Hill, generations of members, competitors, volunteers, innovators, and shooting enthusiasts have helped shape the future of marksmanship. Walnut Hill has played an important role in the development of modern rimfire shooting, fi****ms research, and competitive shooting in America.

To commemorate that legacy, the MRA partnered with Henry Repeating Arms to create the limited-edition MRA Sesquicentennial Golden Boy rifle.

Built on Henry’s iconic Golden Boy platform, this special edition honors the MRA’s founding in 1875, the enduring legacy of Walnut Hill, and the generations of members who have carried the Association’s mission forward.

Each rifle is built to order, and a portion of every sale is returned to the MRA in support of our mission to promote the shooting sports in a safe and friendly environment.

The rifle is chambered in .22 S/L/LR, features a blued 20-inch octagon barrel and genuine American walnut furniture, and includes engravings honoring the MRA seal and historic Walnut Hill. Orders are shipped through a federally licensed fi****ms dealer.

One of our Directors stopped by with his 1862 US Model 1861 rifle-musket made in Springfield, MA.

The Massachusetts Rifle Association community is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Edward George, a Life Member, Counsel to our Board of Directors, and friend.

Edward was a passionate advocate for the shooting sports, youth shooting programs, and a strong supporter of our community for many years. He was also a longtime member of the MRA Pistol Team and brought back the "Chevalier Ira Paine Pistol Match" honoring a notable marksman and member from the 1880s.

His dedication, voice, and commitment to preserving and promoting the traditions of responsible fi****ms ownership will not be forgotten and service as an enduring legacy.

Our thoughts and condolences are with his wife Janet, and his family, his many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Installation of new Loeb air system has started. From Monday May 4 through end of May or till job is complete. During the installation process:

Fazio Range
Closed
Monday - Friday from 6am - 4pm
Open
Saturday and Sunday during normal hours

Pope Range
Closed
Monday - Friday until 4pm
Open
Saturday and Sunday during normal hours

Summa and McLaughlin Ranges open daily for normal hours

Will send updates as to progress of the project and any modifications to the schedule. Will update events calendar on massrifle.com with any changes

This is a long project, but the rewards will be a new, better air system for the Loeb Range.
