Let's start off the week.with a little bit of fun AND information from our FB Friends. Tire width on road bikes has been a big topic for discussion over the last few years. Let us know what you are riding and why. 3 questions to answer.
1. What tire, psi and width are you riding?
2. Why that tire?
3. How wide of a tire does your road bike allow?
Refrain from negative comments about tires too wide or too narrow. We reserve the right to remove comments.

2. Smoothest Road Clincher I've ridden and it's a compromise between a 28 and 32

Lon Haldeman and PACTOUR rolled through Wooster this week and I was privileged to meet him Wednesday morning. You may be asking "Who is Lon Haldeman?" Lon is the other "L" of my two cycling heroes, Greg is #1. Lon won the first 2 GABR in the early 80s which is now known as RAAM, Race Across America. He was the first to do it solo in less than 10 days. PACTOUR is his organization that does 36 day tours from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean.

Lon and his wife Susan Notorangelo lost a daughter to ALS and PACTOUR raises funds to battle this disease. Susan is an accomplished endurance cyclist herself and they raced across the US on a tandem in a record 9 days and 20 hours in 1983.

The Good...the Bad... the Good
Chris Jeffers walked into our shop at few years ago and was looking for a road bike to take his cycling to the next level. We had a used bike that fit his needs and he jumped into our group rides. In 2024 he purchased a New Giant Defy Advanced. Giant Bicycles offers a 2 year "No questions, Composite Confidence".

On May 26 of this year, Chris met a deer on a 30 mph descent that sent the deer off with a broken leg and Chris landed in the hospital with broken ribs, collapsed lung, shoulder and ankle injuries and a lot of road rash. His Giro helmet saved his head from a serious head injury.

What about the bike you ask?.. totalled. The fork snapped at head tube. Giant Bicycles honored their "Composite Confidence" warranty and we had a new frame/fork shipped no charge! Club members from Orrville and Wooster contributed to keep the cost of replacing the bike to a minimal. We took the opportunity to upgrade Chris' new bike to carbon wheels, handle bars and few other upgrades.

On July 21, 8 weeks to date after his deer encounter, Chris conquered some very serious injuries, threw his leg over his new bike and rolled out with the group.

How bout a celebration with some venison burgers on the grill.
