They Were Not Witches. They Were Women. 🖤

Women who thought differently. Who spoke too much or remained silent. Women who understood plants, cared for others, supported childbirth, and carried knowledge passed down through generations.

Women who did not always fit into what society expected them to be.

Throughout history, many were accused of witchcraft, persecuted, tortured, and killed. Some because of their beliefs, others because of fear, prejudice, personal conflicts, or simply because someone decided to accuse them.

Behind those accusations were real women. Women with families, dreams, knowledge, and lives that deserved respect.

Why does remembering their stories matter today?

Because understanding our history is part of understanding ourselves.

For generations, women learned that staying quiet was safer than speaking up. That being different could come at a cost. That sometimes, being accepted meant hiding parts of who they were.

And although times have changed, many women still struggle with the fear of being judged, rejected, or misunderstood.

Healing is not always about forgetting the past. Sometimes, it means understanding it, questioning what we have inherited, and choosing what we no longer want to carry.

We cannot change what those women experienced. But we can honor their memory by refusing to silence ourselves or others.

By supporting one another instead of tearing each other down. By respecting differences rather than fearing them. By allowing women to live, believe, speak, and grow without having to apologize for who they are.

No woman should have to dim her light to make others comfortable.

They were not simply witches.

They were women. And their stories deserve to be remembered.
