Our final entrant in the under 170 division of the White Belt Wars is Bobby. He’s got a crazy good memory for the details, putting new techniques to use regularly and successfully. He has a great attitude and makes the mat space more fun for everyone. He’s ready to use his tight technique, long levers, and impressive work ethic to get that W Saturday and continue making progress.

Unofficially sponsored by really good headbands that somehow manage to stay on while grappling, bouncy curls, and long annoying limbs.

Congratulations to all of our kids and adult students who earned stripe promotions this month! A big time special congrats to Luke on earning his grey and black belt!

Every stripe represents the time, consistency, effort, and growth you’ve put in on the mats. We’re proud of the hard work you continue to put in and excited to watch you keep progressing on your journey.

Keep showing up, keep learning, and keep putting in the work!

Our fourth competitor in the -170 White Belt Wars is Landon. Landon is one of the youngest guys in our adult program, and he also happens to be one of the hardest working. He’s technical and tough, which makes him a tricky opponent. He’s one of the most laidback, chill dudes we’ve ever met. He plays it cool even when he’s excited about something, so if he wins his blue belt this weekend, will we see a crazy excited Landon we’ve never seen before?

Unofficially sponsored by playing it cool and having great hair.

Our third contender for the sub 170 blue belt is Gabriel P., another one of our mat dads. He’s retired NYPD and a college professor, so we know he has the brains and the brawn to get it done on Saturday.

Two Gabes one comp.

✨Adult Student Spotlight✨

Name: Amanda

Age: 31

How long have you been a member?: 3 months

How long have you been training BJJ?: 3 months

What made you want to start training?: I’ve enjoyed watching my husband and kids train here for the last 3 years. It’s always been interesting to me and after finally taking a class, I knew this was something I wanted to do with my family too.

What motivates you to continue coming to class?: So many reasons! Training with my family and friends I’ve made there. The coaches are great. Also knowing that the more consistent I am, even if it’s just a little bit every class, I’ll continue to improve and learn new things!

What’s the most rewarding part of practicing BJJ?: The most rewarding part is not just the sense of physical accomplishment but the mental aspects as well. Training has led me to ask questions about my confidence, ego, and how I face adversity that I’ve already seen positively impacting my life outside of BJJ.

How would you describe the training and atmosphere of Tri-Force to someone who’s never been there?: It’s welcoming, fun, and if you really want to get serious about learning the techniques and developing the skill the coaches and teammates alike want to help you succeed!

What advice would you give someone looking to start BJJ?: Don’t overthink it and just do it!

Second entrant in the under 170lb division is Gabriel M. He’s always training with intention, really thinking through every aspect of his game, and he’s an awesome teammate! He’s somewhat of a mat dad, checking in on everyone, mentoring newer members, and always boosting the mood of the room!

Unofficially sponsored by wisdom, age, and dad jokes.

Our first competitor in the under 170lb division is Seth “SSG” Lorenzo. He’s been training at Tri-Force for coming up on two years and is swimming in white belt comp wins. He’s one of our smallest guys, but most of his teammates would say he’s also a contender for pound for pound strongest. He has endless energy and positivity, and he’s ready to bring his crazy work ethic and luscious locks to the mats next Saturday!

Most definitely not sponsored by hair elastics that actually work.

Our third and final competitor for the 170+ division of White Belt Wars is Joe. Joe’s been competing regularly and racking up wins in white belt divisions since he first started with us. He’s ready to level up to a blue belt and compete in a new division!

Unofficially sponsored by Lunchables and totally sick Avenged Sevenfold tattoos.

Entrant number two in the White Belt Wars 170+ division is Dane. He’s been a white belt menace on the mats for too long and is ready to level up to blue.

Unofficially sponsored by tren, nervous awkward energy, peptides, and body hair.
