One of the things I often notice in coaching is how quickly our minds can turn one small situation into a much bigger story.
Something doesn’t go according to plan, and suddenly the thought becomes:
“I always get things wrong.”
“I’m not good enough.”
“Nothing ever works out for me.”
“What if everything goes wrong?”
I’ve had clients sit across from me convinced that the problem is the situation in front of them, only for us to discover that their thinking patterns are making the situation feel much heavier than it needs to be. I know this because I’ve had to challenge my own thinking patterns too.
Our thoughts can become so familiar that we stop questioning them. We simply believe them.
But a thought is not always a fact.
In coaching, I help people become more aware of the patterns behind their thinking and explore whether those patterns are helping them move forward or keeping them stuck.
Sometimes you don’t need to change everything around you.
You may need to start by looking at the way you are looking at it.
And that can be a powerful place to begin.

Sometimes stress doesn’t look like stress.
I’ve had clients tell me, “I’m fine. I’m just tired,” while describing a mind that never switches off, a constant feeling of being behind, and worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet.
I remember one conversation where a client said to me, “I just want my brain to be quiet for a while.”
That stayed with me.
Because sometimes we become so used to functioning under pressure that we don’t realise how much it is costing us.
Stress and anxiety aren’t always about having too much to do. Sometimes it’s the pressure we put on ourselves, the expectations we carry, or the stories we keep repeating in our minds.
Coaching gives us an opportunity to slow down and look at what is really going on.
What are you carrying?
What is within your control?
What thoughts are adding to the pressure?
And what might change if you approached things differently?
You don’t have to wait until you feel completely overwhelmed before you ask for support.
Sometimes, the first step is simply giving yourself permission to pause.
That’s where coaching can begin.

When stress and anxiety take over, I don’t always need to “fix everything”.
Sometimes I just need to pause.
When my mind is racing, it’s easy to get caught up in everything that could happen, everything I still need to do and everything I feel I should have handled differently.
And suddenly, one small worry feels enormous.
When I notice this happening, I try to come back to what is happening right now.
I take a breath.
I step away from the noise for a moment.
I ask myself:
What is actually within my control?
What can wait until tomorrow?
What do I need right now — rather than what do I think I should be doing?
Stress and anxiety don’t always disappear because we tell ourselves to “calm down”.
Sometimes we need to slow down enough to understand what our mind and body are trying to tell us.
And if you’ve been carrying too much for too long, you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
Sometimes having someone walk alongside you can make the load feel a little lighter.

I think we’re often much better at noticing when our body needs looking after than when our mind does.
We’ll rest when we’re exhausted, take medicine when we’re sick and try to eat better when our body tells us something is wrong.
But when our minds are tired?
We often just keep going.
We tell ourselves we’re overreacting. That everyone is stressed. That we’ll feel better once this busy period is over.
But our mental wellbeing matters every day — not only when we reach breaking point.
For me, looking after my mental wellbeing means paying attention to what I’m feeling, giving myself permission to slow down, setting boundaries, talking when something is weighing heavily on me and recognising when I need support.
It’s not about being positive all the time or pretending everything is fine.
It’s about checking in with yourself and asking:
“How am I really doing?”
Because taking care of your mind isn’t selfish. It’s part of taking care of your whole self.

Wow it's very humbling to read a client's review but it also confirms why I love doing what I do.

Sometimes anxiety doesn't look like panic.
Sometimes it looks like saying, "I'm fine" while your mind is quietly falling apart.
It can look like lying awake at night, replaying every conversation.
Imagining everything that could go wrong.
Feeling exhausted from constantly trying to prepare for problems that haven't even happened yet.
Wanting to relax… but not knowing how to switch your mind off.
And perhaps the hardest part is feeling like you should be able to handle it all on your own.
You don't have to.
In my coaching sessions, I offer a safe, supportive space where we can explore the thoughts, patterns, and pressures that may be contributing to your anxiety.
Together, we can work towards understanding what you're experiencing, finding practical ways to manage overwhelming thoughts, and helping you feel more in control of your responses.
You are not your anxiety.
And you don't have to let it make every decision for you.
What would you do if fear wasn't making the decisions for you?
