The Barbell Strict Press is one of the most honest lifts in the gym β it tells you exactly how strong your shoulders, triceps and upper body really are. No hiding behind momentum.
How to nail your strict press:
1οΈβ£ Setup β feet hip-width, bar resting on the front of your shoulders, elbows slightly forward
2οΈβ£ Brace β full core brace, squeeze your glutes, no lower back arch
3οΈβ£ Press β drive the bar straight up, push your head through at the top
4οΈβ£ Lockout β arms fully extended, bar over your heels, shoulders active
5οΈβ£ Lower β controlled descent back to the shelf, reset and repeat
