He may have stepped onto the mat alone, but he was never fighting alone. The way his team rushed in to congratulate him shows exactly what being part of a team is about!

Behind the scenes:
While everybody is watching the opening ceremony…
they are running a barbershop on the sidelines. ✂️😂

Really hope their client likes the new cut…😅

Now surely you didn’t think we were going to show only the ladies’ excitement and forget about the men… 😂😂

Turns out the men are JUST as calm, collected and completely reasonable next to the mat. 🤣

Gentlemen, your passion has officially been documented. 🤣👏

One of the toughest matches to watch is when both wrestlers in the final for gold are from our province.

It’s not easy for the wrestlers, and it sure isn’t easy for the parents sitting on the sidelines knowing that when that final whistle blows, one will celebrate while the other has to deal with the disappointment of losing.

That’s wrestling!

Hats off to Matthew for taking the win and doing it with dignity and respect.

And to Albrecht losing a final hurts, there’s no sugar-coating that. But one result doesn’t take away from the hard work, it took to get you onto that mat fighting for gold in the first place. Hold your head high.

Two wrestlers. One province. One gold medal. But plenty to be proud of on both sides.
