Mario Alfonso 🇮🇹✨

Born in Italy and trained in classical ballet in Milano, Mario’s journey in movement took him across Europe—from studying modern dance education in Germany to founding Side By Side Arts Center, an international platform that unites dancers through an annual global festival.

As a professional dancer, Mario discovered Pilates as a powerful tool for recovery and longevity. In 2007, he completed the BASI Comprehensive Teacher Training Course in Germany and Costa Mesa, California.

Today, Mario is the proud owner of Pilates Essenza in Düsseldorf. Since joining the BASI Faculty in 2011, Mario continues to inspire through teaching, choreography, and his deep commitment to the BASI method.

At BASI Pilates Cape Town we offer Private one on one and semi private Pilates classes dedicated to individualized programing, attention to detail and encouraging our clients to apply the Pilates principle of mindful movement to each session. Truly uncovering the benefits of Pilates as a skills based practice and more than just exercise.
