One of the biggest secrets to coaching young children is using simple keywords they can remember instantly.

🙌 Forehand = "High Five" + "Turn"
🛹 Backhand = "Skateboard" + "Turn Side On"

Instead of long technical explanations, we give kids a picture in their minds. Look how quickly the girls in this video understand the positions and movements!

At this age, tennis should be about:

Tell them when they're doing well. Celebrate the small wins. Create games and challenges that keep them engaged and excited to come back for more.

🔴 Red stage balls

Red balls are softer, slower, and lower bouncing, giving young players more time to react and learn proper technique. Combined with the correct racket size and court dimensions, children can rally sooner, build confidence faster, and enjoy the game from day one.

Too often kids are given the wrong equipment and expected to play adult tennis. The right equipment makes a massive difference to their development.

Kholo Montsi Ranking Update 🚨🎾

At the start of this run, the goal was clear: push towards the Top 600 in the world. Unfortunately, the final two Challenger events on the schedule were cancelled, but that doesn't take away from what has been an outstanding season for Kholo Montsi.

His results over the past few months have shown exactly why he is one of South Africa's most exciting tennis players:

🎾 Most tennis players lose points because they change direction too early.

The court looks open down the line, but that doesn't mean you should go there.

The best players stay patient. They trust their crosscourt target, build the point, and wait until they have EARNED the short ball.

A quality crosscourt ball is often far more effective than trying to force a winner into an open corner. Keep pushing your opponent wider and deeper until they're in trouble. Only then should you look to change direction.

And when you do go down the line, it needs to have purpose. Put a punch on it. If the ball is too soft, you've simply opened the court for your opponent and made yourself do all the running.

✅ Stay crosscourt.
✅ Build the point.
✅ Earn the short ball.
✅ Attack when the opportunity is there.

Patience wins more matches than low-percentage shot making.
