🚔 EMPD JOINS THE LAUNCH OF OPERATION SAFER FESTIVE SEASON 2026/2027 🇿🇦
The EMPD participated in the official launch of the SAPS Provincial Operation Safer Festive Season 2026/2027, led by Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, at Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park.
The event was attended by key dignitaries and law enforcement stakeholders, including Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development and CoGTA, Mr Jacob Mamabolo; MMC for Community Safety, Cllr Mzayifane Ngwenya; EMPD Commissioner Isaac Mapiyeye; and representatives from other metropolitan police departments.
As part of the launch, MEC Mamabolo and Lieutenant General Mthombeni handed over operational vehicles to designated police stations and provincial units to strengthen operational capacity and enhance crime-fighting efforts, particularly following recent alarming criminal incidents in the City of Ekurhuleni.
The initiative aims to intensify crime prevention, strengthen law enforcement visibility and promote active community participation throughout the festive season. The launch also showcased the capabilities of specialised units, including Visible Policing, the Air Wing, K9 Unit, Mounted Unit and specialised search operations.
Together, through stronger partnerships and coordinated action, we remain committed to building safer communities and protecting our residents this festive season. 🤝🚨
