Run The Karoo entails a weekend of trail running in the heart of the Karoo from 1-2 October 2022! Experience authentic Karoo hospitality with braais, fresh farm bread, condensed milk coffee, koeksisters & craft beer amidst picturesque sunsets. Run the Karoo is not about crossing the finish line as quickly as possible but rather about a running experience like no other.

🏃‍♂️ DAY 2 | 22 KM ROUTE OVERVIEW | HORSERUN

The 22 km route starts beside the 100-year-old Nourse shed before winding through the poplar forest and onto rolling jeep tracks.

Stop for a cappuccino at Atlantic Coffee for a much-needed caffeine boost ☕ and grab a selfie at the famous Dwarsvlei couch before climbing along the Renosterberg, with breathtaking Karoo views all around.

Enjoy a rewarding downhill before passing the old Dwarsvlei siding and running along the unused train tracks. The final stretch takes you through flowing single track up the 200-year-old stone wall koppie one last time.

Then it’s downhill through the poplar forest and home to your well-earned finisher medal. 🏅✨

🏃‍♀️ DAY 2 | 14 KM ROUTE OVERVIEW | SHEEPRUN

Your 14 km journey starts winding through the magical poplar forest before opening onto rolling jeep tracks through Dwarsvlei’s farm paddocks, home to fluffy sheep and vocal cows. 🐑

Make your first stop at Atlantic Coffee for a much-needed caffeine boost ☕ and grab a photo at the famous couch by the Dwarsvlei siding sign.

From there, take in views of the Renosterberg, spot springbok and tortoises, and cruise along smooth single track before tackling the 200-year-old stone wall koppie.

Finish with a downhill run through the poplar forest, across the old bridge and home to your handmade souvenir medal. 🏅✨

🌙 DAY 1 | ROUTE OVERVIEW

As the last light of day fades, the route takes you on a slow, rewarding ascent up the koppie, with the final glimpses of the Renosterberg in the backdrop.

From there, flowy jeep tracks lead into the darkness, lit by the glow of runners’ headlamps. The route winds past a beautiful dam, reflecting the stars above, before taking you through the majestic poplar forest and finishing alongside the 200-year-old stone walls.

A one-of-a-kind night run through the heart of the Karoo. ✨🏃‍♀️
