Route Marking Day.
If you’ve been wondering whether you can manage the route—or whether you’ll know where to go—here’s what’s waiting for you.
5km: Your place to begin.
Relatively flat, with gentle inclines, including one after the water table. Wide paths give you room to find your pace without worrying about holding anyone up.
Walk when you want to. Run when you feel comfortable. Look around.
Trail running doesn’t have to be difficult to count. You came out. You did the distance. You belong here.
10km: Your next brave step.
After the easier opening section, you’ll cross a small hill several times. Climb, recover and go again.
The climbs give you a chance to practise controlling your effort. And remember: you’re allowed to walk the hills.
Follow the run-walk flags. Take your time. Finish knowing you’ve practised something you can take into your next adventure.
Experienced runners: Make it your session.
Enjoy a comfortable outing, or put more effort into the repeated climbs. Use the easier sections to recover while moving and practise refuelling at the mini aid station.
Want longer?
15km: complete the 10km route, then the 5km.
21km: complete the 10km route twice as a training run.
Both are available in the Relaxed Run format only.
Here’s your plan:
1. Choose the distance that suits you and book online.
2. Pack your trail shoes and a soft cup or water bottle for the water points.
3. Join us on Thursday, follow the markers and move at your pace.
Relaxed Run: start any time between 7:00 and 9:30.
The Race: 10km at 7:40; 5km at 8:00.
Your entry includes official Heritage Day THE Socks and a huge metal butterfly medal—a reminder of the morning you gave yourself a chance.
We’ll mark the route. You take the next step.
Online entries close tomorrow, Wednesday 23 September, at 18:30.
