Day 3 Youth Festival

The boys did only the road race today 80km, 40km two laps and combined bunch to learn on having mass start. It was the Junior and U17 racing together. Our riders started very strong staying in front of the race until the first climb, the pass increased on the climb and our boys responded to the pressure. On their second laps our junior boys crashed both of them luckily their did not break any bones.

Our under 17 boys managed to stay with first bunch until the sprint line. They finish strong in the sprint against some track guys from DSV Academy. To our riders don't stop trying one day you will make it.

Day 2 Criterium

The u17 race 20 minutes plus 1 lap, within the first lap the race was hot. Our boys hang in there until around about 7 lap, two of them dropped off the main bunch and only Lonwabo Futshane was still racing hard in the front bunch. He was bitten on the sprint managing to finish 9th overall.

The Junior race was 30 minutes plus 1, they start house was on fire. Within the 1 lap the was a split, we had two riders Sihle and Lithalethu. Lithalethu was chasing for 20 minutes and he managed to catch the front guys only to be asked by race commissioner if he was not lapped by the bunch, when he told no he was not lapped the front guys attacked again. Lithalethu managed to finish 6th overall within touching distance with front riders.

We are super happy to see our riders performing this way at Youth Festival showing us that if you put in the training nothing can stop you from performing. We can wait for the road race to start today.

G2C 2026

A huge congratulations to our boys that race G2C MTB this past weekend. Lithalethu Kwati finished 3rd 58km MTB Race. Sihle Ningi finished 8th due to mechanical good showing by not giving up until the finish line. Wanga Mbuqe finished 14th place and Lonwabo Futshane finished 31st place overall. All our boys finished strong against a tough field.

Race Brief: Uthando Youth Cycle Academy Takes on Cape Town! 🚴‍♂️💨

Big congratulations to our riders who traveled to the Mother City to compete in the prestigious 109km Cape Town Tour road race. Representing the academy on a massive national stage, both riders showed incredible grit and determination against thousands of competitors.

Sihle Ningi
Time: 3 hours 10 minutes

Overall Finish: 1,064th out of 18,062 riders

Category: 64th out of 288 (Under 19s)

Sihle cracked the top 6% of the entire field and proved he is a force to be reckoned with in the U19 category!

Lundi Kakana
Overall Finish: 165th out of 18,031 riders

Category: 42nd out of 500 (Under 23s)

An elite performance from Lundi, finishing within the top 200 riders overall in one of the world's largest timed races!

We are incredibly proud of how these young men represented the academy and our community. Their hard work in training is clearly paying off on the road. 🇿🇦

Weekends are meant for long rides. That's exactly what we did with our boys. Including racing Masters and Ladies event on Saturday.
