With the Langeberg mountains behind us and wide green fairways in front of us, we're reminded every day how lucky we are to play in such a beautiful part of South Africa.

Today we celebrate the people, cultures and stories that make our country what it is, and the friendships made on and off the course. Whether you're teeing off, lighting the braai or spending time with family, enjoy the day.

Saturday's Daneel Cup and Mooiuitsig Cup at Swellendam Golf Club were made possible by our sponsor for the day, Olivedale.

These vineyards are still the only estate in our district that's Swellendam from vine to bottle. Like Swellendam Golf Club, Olivedale remains proudly Swellendam.

No strangers to international recognition, Olivedale has just walked away from the Michelangelo International W**e Awards 2026 with 🥇🥇 Double Gold for Wild Melody 2020, Gold for the Shiraz and Chardonnay, Silver for the Malbec and Rouge Muscat...and that's before the three Golds at the Niche W**e Competition 2026🍷

⛳ CONGRATULATIONS SWELLENDAM GOLF CLUB 🏆
Daneel Cup 2026 champions — and the Mooiuitsig Cup too.

Six clubs. Six teams. 36 players. 36 holes. One day.
Tough medal golf with a strong field — Heidelberg, Stilbaai, Riversdale, Riviersonderend and Bredasdorp all brought good golf to Swellendam.

We last won the Daneel Cup in 2013. It's been a long wait!

A heads up, members and visitors 👋

Our Golf Café kitchen will be closed from 28 September until further notice while we get some renovation work done.

Good news — the bar's got snack duty covered in the meantime, so your usual peanuts, crisps and golf-day favourites are still on hand at the club bar.

Thanks for your patience while we spruce things up behind the scenes — we'll let you know as soon as the kitchen's back in action.

⛳ It's Daneel Cup day at Swellendam! 🙌

The Daneel Cup and the Mooiuitsig Cup are in place and ready for prize-giving this evening. 🏆

Six clubs teed off early this morning: Heidelberg, Stilbaai, Riversdale, Riviersonderend, Bredasdorp and us. The clouds cleared in time and it's a beautiful day for medal play.

Sterkte, Paul, Grant, Heinrich, Hein, Juan and Wouter. The whole club is behind you! 👏

If you're around, come down, find a seat at the clubhouse. The indoor fire is lit. The umbrellas are up outside and there are 36 players out on the course, battling for victory.

⛳ Saturday: 6 clubs, 36 players

This Saturday - 19 September - Swellendam Golf Club proudly hosts the Daneel Cup, a regional competition that's been played since 1932.

If you're around, come and watch from the clubhouse. Teams from Bredasdorp, Heidelberg, Riversdale, Riviersonderend and Stilbaai will be out there alongside our own six players.

⛳ September at Swellendam GC — a lot on the go this month

We kicked the month off with Ladies Day, the Swellendam High School Golf Day, and our Brodie team making it through to the Final.

This Thursday, 17 September, we host Sages. Two days later, on the 19th, we're proud to host the regional Daneel Cup — six clubs, one trophy, right here on our course.

Heritage Day on the 24th means the LIV Golf Challenge — always a good day of fun competition, with an 11:00 Sh***un start. Book early to get your spot. Plenty of time for a braai afterwards.🥩🍗🔥

One for the diary: the course will be closed on Saturday 26 September for the Thornlands Golf Day.

And through all of it, our usual Wednesday and Friday comps carry on as normal. Any day on this course is a good day.
