One of the amazing things about parkrun is that it is relentless – in a good way. It happens every week, unless there is a major hindrance such as a gale or deep snow or a city-organized event. If you miss one Saturday, no worries, you can take part 7 days later.
Milestones come and go, seasons come and go, visitors arrive, newcomers arrive and some become regulars. Oh, how philosophical we could get… You can go every week and it is more or less the same – and now and then there is a special occasion.
After our 3-year and 150th parkrun anniversary just last week, this Saturday we celebrated 22 years of parkrun in total.
It being a 2-2 day, there was the opportunity to take part wearing tutus, taken on by one of our Polish visitors. This tradition has just not caught on with the regulars in Graz yet!
We had 48 finishers and 11 volunteers on Saturday. The weather was great and we had a lovely course except for the pesky chestnuts rolling around on the paths. Our visitors this week were from the UK and Poland and we had a few parkrun newcomers, too. Afterwards it was lovely to catch up with everyone over coffee.
Happy 22nd birthday parkrun and see you next week everyone !
