There’s plenty happening behind the scenes, with several upgrades already underway around the venue.

A massive thank you goes to our dedicated club members who have spent countless hours at the track over the past few months. From removing the old safety fence to make way for a brand-new installation and assisting with the track wall extension, your hard work and commitment have been invaluable in keeping this project moving forward. 💙

These improvements are all part of our ongoing commitment to making Albany Speedway an even better venue for both competitors and spectators.

🏁 FLASHBACK FRIDAY 🏁

A bright future needs a strong past - and for Albany Speedway Club, that story began in a packed kitchen on Minor Road in Orana.

In 1962, Keith Bailey and a group of local motorsport enthusiasts placed an advertisement in the local newspaper, inviting people to discuss building a venue for hot rod racing. Expecting only a small turnout, they were amazed when people filled the house, with cars lining both sides of the street.

"We thought no one would show up. But Mum’s dining room was packed, and people sat on the lino floor just to be part of the conversation!" - Keith Bailey

Three years later, on 14 November 1965, the Albany Hot Rod Club held its first official race meeting, attracting around 1,000 spectators and beginning a speedway tradition that has now spanned 60 years.

Why Was It Called Powerline Speedway?
Did you know Albany Speedway wasn't always known as Attwell Park?

In November 1972, the Albany Hot Rod Club officially named their McKail venue Powerline Speedway, inspired by the prominent power lines running alongside the track.

The venue would become home to countless race meetings and help shape the future of speedway in Albany for generations to come.

What an incredible season this has been — not only wrapping up another year of racing, but celebrating 60 years of Albany Speedway.
This club is so much more than just racing. It’s friendships, families, memories, hard work, and a community that keeps showing up year after year because we all share the same passion for the sportand our club.

A huge thank you to our volunteers, sponsors, drivers, officials, committee members and supporters. So much happens behind the scenes, and this season simply wouldn’t have been possible without every single person who gives their time and energy to the club.

To our racing families and fans — thank you for being part of the journey and helping make this season one to remember.

We’re asking our Speedway family to get behind two of our wonderful club members, Patrick and Cassie, after they were seriously injured in an accident last week.

Both are currently in hospital in Perth, facing surgeries and a long road to recovery ahead.
