Semi-private training does not mean everyone gets the same workout.

It means the room has structure and each person has a plan.

One person may need more strength volume. Another may need lower conditioning intensity. Another may need a movement changed because sleep was poor.

The session looks shared. The coaching is individual.

Most programs aren't built for the life around them.

They're built around an ideal week. Consistent energy. Clear schedule. Full recovery between sessions.

Olivia's week doesn't look like that. Neither does yours.

When the program doesn't account for what the rest of life costs, you end up constantly tweaking it. Dropping sessions. Adding sessions. Wondering if the whole thing needs a rethink.

It usually doesn't. It just needs to be built properly for the person doing it.

Olivia didn't need educating. She needed a coach who could work at her level.

Right things. Right order. Right load for the week she's actually living.
That's what we do.

If your training feels like it needs a constant overhaul, it might be worth a conversation. Link in bio.

Strength training after a long break should not leave you wrecked. It should leave you clear.

Most people come back wanting to prove they can still work hard.

We usually want the opposite first. We want clean movement, simple choices, and a session you can recover from.

The goal is not to make Monday heroic. The goal is to make Thursday possible too.

A member said this after a set last week. He was not asking to train like he was 25. He just wanted to stop treating every movement like a negotiation. That’s a fair goal.

Strength training often gives people that back in small pieces.

Less checking.
Less bracing.
Less wondering if the body will hold.

Knowing when to ease off is a skill. It took me years to appreciate that.

The people I see making real progress past 45 aren't the ones going hardest. They're the ones showing up the most. Week after week. No drama.
Your program needs to work on a Tuesday when you're flat and tired, not just Saturday when you're fresh and fired up.

A few things I've seen play out over and over:

• Recovery gets slower after 40. That's not a weakness. That's biology.
• Soreness means nothing. What you build over months means everything.
• The whole point of today's session is to make tomorrow's session possible.

If training is regularly wrecking you, the program is the problem. Your effort isn't the issue.

We showed up at True Grit a couple of weekends ago.

We did something a little different, albeit a little challenging and it was great to see a few familiar faces.

We are proud of everyone who turned up and gave it a go! It's no easy challenge 💪🏻

Three years at Fitness Life Studios. 🙌🏻

This month we’re celebrating Bec, and the role she has played in FLS over that time.

Many of you know Bec well.

You have probably had a chat with her, shared a laugh with her, or seen her quietly step in where something needed doing.

That is Bec. Thoughtful. Steady. Always willing to help.

She brings real care to the people around her. Our coaching team feels that. Our members feel it too.

We’re very grateful for Bec, and for the different ways she helps shape the environment here.

If you see Bec around the studio feel free to join us in celebrating her. 💪🏻

Yesterday was Coach Brandon’s birthday, which means we’re only slightly late to the party 🎉

Classic gym timing. Still counts.

We’re also using this as the perfect chance to officially welcome Brandon to the Fitness Life Studios team.

Brandon brings a calm, practical and down to earth approach to coaching. He’s got a strong background in strength training, over five years of coaching experience, and a real understanding of what it’s like to keep showing up when life, study, training and setbacks all get in the way.

He’s big on good technique, smart training and helping people feel more confident in the gym without overcomplicating things.

Brandon, we’re really glad to have you on the team. Your knowledge, care and good spirit are already appreciated, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

Please join us in wishing Brandon a belated happy birthday and giving him a warm welcome to FLS 🙌

Fun facts:
Favourite exercise: Squat 🏋️
Outside of training: Hiking
Favourite series: Peaky Blinders
Favourite quote: “Yeah Buddy, light weight, Wooooo!” — Ronnie Coleman

Motivation comes and goes. That's life.

Some days you're up for it. Some days you're not.

That's why you can't rely on motivation.

Build structure instead.

A plan. A set time. A routine.

You don't need more hype. You just need to keep showing up.

20/05/2026

Lasting progress usually doesn’t come from one big effort.

It comes from becoming the kind of person who keeps showing up.

Even when work is full, the week gets messy or
even when motivation isn’t there.

That’s what makes change stick.

Not perfection. Not intensity.
Just a higher standard you return to.

Because when that part is built, the results have something solid to sit on.
