The final game of the 2026 Legacy Series delivered exactly what Friday night footy should be — big hits, brilliant footwork, plenty of passion, team camaraderie and two sides willing to leave everything on the field.
In the end, the Pirates held on to take the decider 24–20 and become our inaugural Legacy Series Champions! 🏆

Two very deserving recipients who stood out amongst some outstanding performances across the series. Congratulations boys! 👏
But this series has been about so much more than the scoreboard.
At the beginning of the year, we were faced with a pretty ordinary situation. Instead of accepting it, we pivoted. We backed our people, backed our game and created something we believe is sustainable, enjoyable and genuinely exciting for rugby league in Bowen.
And three Friday nights later, we couldn't be prouder of what the Legacy Series has become.
A huge thank you to our Bowen Seagulls Rugby League Commitee and volunteers who make nights like these possible, our incredible sponsors FOGS, KFC Bowen and BIH, our players for backing the concept from day one, and every coach, trainer and team staff member who bought in and helped make it work.
And to our community — thank you for showing up. For standing on the sidelines, cheering, supporting the club and watching these boys put on one hell of a show.
We wanted to create a product our players enjoyed being part of and our community enjoyed watching — and we reckon we've done exactly that.
The best part?
It's only just beginning.
The Legacy Series will continue to grow, evolve and become something we hope our players and community look forward to year after year.
