Good luck to Fortitude Boxing amateur boxer as he represents Queensland today at the Kokoda Cup Challenge in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea πŸ₯ŠπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡΅πŸ‡¬

The Kokoda Cup Challenge sees selected boxers from Queensland and New South Wales take on Papua New Guinea in an international boxing event, providing valuable experience and competition on the international stage.

A fantastic opportunity for Nishal and a proud moment for our gym to have him representing Fortitude Boxing internationally. Best of luck Nishal and Team QLD from the entire Fortitude Boxing team πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ

Fortitudes pugilistic prowess at Redlands YMCA.

First up we had the one and only captain of the Fortitude Boxing Team (Melita Hegarty) take to the stage and lit the crowd up in only the 2nd fight of the tournament. Melita couldn't miss a right hand early, boxing beautifully behind a well calculated lead hand taking the first round convincingly after putting an 8 count on the hometown girl who put up a brave performance not letting Melita have it all her own way. Coming back hard in the second & 3rd rounds though Melita landed the more telling blows taking a points victory for second time this year against another hometown foe.

Second up we had a special treat in the unstoppable, unpredictable and unbelievable young Milton Bain. The beautiful part of this job is watching the beginning of something special. Young Milton stepping into the squared circle for his first dance under the Queensbury Rules didn't disappoint. With a second round stoppage victory Milton looked right at home where only the brave find solace. Landing clean straight punches at will carrying the composure of a veteran. Milton will be a name to remember in time to come.

Third up we had the reckless, relentless Bennie Truong. In an absolute tear up the crowd was most certainly entertained. This fight could've taken place in a phone booth. Both lads unwilling to give an inch landing bombs at will. Bennie having a point deducted in the 2nd round needed to lift in an arm wrestle of a contest. And lift he did, dropping some heavy unanswered artillery down leaving the referee no choice but to bring a halt to the contest at the end of the third stanza.

In our fourth contest of the day we had the ever shining Marx Eadie. In arguably one of the more skilful contests of the day. Marx and his opponent put on a beautiful display of boxing. Working behind calculated feints accompanied by a high work rate and well timed punches. This was a very even contest. Going tit for tat over the distance of the bout. Both lads showed skills well beyond their years. With Marx losing by a split decision these kind of challenges develop fighters into champions. These two will share the ring on many more occasions elevating each other to the elite level.

Lastly we saw the crippling kiwi sensation in Connor 'Kiaora' Mathieson continue his winning streak with his fourth straight victory. Connor proved once again with his high work rate pressure style to be too much for his opponent. Connor controlled the fight from distance though switched gears well closing in turning it into a close quarter scrap. Connors pressure proved too much as he capitalised on his fatiguing opponent. In a class act of a show Connor claimed a unanimous victory.

Stephen Deller would like to extend his thanks to Todd Kidd for his guidance and mentorship to the team since joining as Head Coach of our amateur squad. Your passion, leadership, and dedication to developing better people does not go unnoticed.

Special thanks also to Assistant Coach Tay for his time, effort, and teachings with the team.

The Fortitude team is building strong and continuing to grow in to a powerful stable πŸ₯Š

Fortitude Masters at the Neon Boxing Tournament today πŸ₯Š

Massive congratulations to Nathan Scotton on making his boxing debut today! Nathan joined Fortitude as a PT client of .albert2 last year, he was already on his weight loss journey but has lost an incredible 60kg through consistency, discipline, and hard work in the past two years. Nathan joined our Masters Team this year, committed to his training, put in extra work outside the gym, and earned every bit of his successes today. He faced an evenly matched opponent and showed real composure from the opening bell. He took the fight to his opponent across all three rounds and showed great heart when it mattered most, digging deep in the third round to secure the win. Great work Nathan for stepping through the ropes πŸ’ͺ🏼

Closing the day for Fortitude was another Masters Boxerβ€” Ryan Kondek also in for his amateur boxing debut and bringing home a strong performance. Ryan stuck to the game plan, listened to his coaches, and executed everything he has been working on in the gym to secure the win today. All the weeks of preparation showed in the ring. Congratulations Ryan πŸ’ͺ🏼

A special mention to professional boxer and Head Coach Jimmie β€œ2 Shoes” for his commitment, guidance, and dedication in coaching and supporting our Masters Team πŸ₯Š
