A great initiative by the Kunanyi Mountain Run team to discount entries for our u20 athletes.

These sort of initiatives will only help us to get more junior runners into our sport so we can bring through our next generation of trail runners

Kunyani will host the National Championships for Mountain and Trail running in 2027, including the u20 champs, with the winners gaining an automatic spot in the Australian team for the WMTRC in South Africa in October 2027.

🚨🏃‍♂️ RUNNER TO WATCH ALERT! 🏃‍♂️🚨

Remember the name Adam Amiot. 🇦🇺 🇫🇷

This young Cairns runner has just produced the biggest win of his young career, taking out the 13km race at Malaysia Ultra-Trail by UTMB over the weekend.

And here’s the thing… Adam is only 14! 🤯🔥

Earlier this year, Adam finished an impressive 5th at Ultra-Trail Australia By UTMB, before taking on one of Australia’s top trail runners, Billy Curtis, in the The Great Pyramid Race – Half Pyramid race in Cairns in August finishing 2nd right on Billy’s heals.

Adam’s trail running journey is a little different too. His parents are trail runners themselves, with the family having French origins, and they regularly travel around Australia enjoy the country and looking for local races that are in while home schooling Adam and his siblings. 🇫🇷🇦🇺🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

But there’s no rush.

Adam and his parents understand the importance of enjoying running, developing gradually and having fun at such a young age. The results are certainly coming, but the focus remains firmly on the journey.

🎯 What’s next?

Adam has his eyes on the U20 Queensland Mountain Running Championships at TRAQ’s Mt Glorious Mountain Race in November, followed by the U20 Australian Mountain & Trail Running Championships (AMTRC) in Hobart in March 2027.

At just 14, there is plenty of running ahead of him — and if his recent results are anything to go by, we reckon Adam is definitely one to watch closely! 👀🔥
