It was great to sit down with Mandy Nolan, Greens candidate for Ballina, for a meaningful conversation about how she can help us work with the government to address the homelessness crisis in our region.
So we can continue offering essential services and dignity to our most vulnerable through our community support hub, Fletcher Street Cottage.

As Homelessness Week comes to a close, we'd like to thank everyone who visited Fletcher Street Cottage, stopped by our information desk, joined a guided tour or simply took the time to learn more about housing insecurity in Byron Shire.
This week we've shared stories. We've shared statistics. But most importantly, we've shared hope. Hope that by working together we can build a community where everyone has access to safety, dignity and support.
While Homelessness Week ends today, our work continues tomorrow.
Every breakfast served.
Every shower offered.
Every conversation.
Every referral.
Every act of kindness is possible because our community stands with us.
If this week's stories have inspired you, please consider making a donation or becoming a regular giver. Together, we can continue supporting local people experiencing hardship and helping them take the next step towards stability. Thank you for standing with Fletcher Street Cottage.

Behind every statistic is a person. Someone who never imagined they would need support.
"A year ago, I didn't know how I was going to get through each day. I was exhausted, isolated and felt invisible. Walking into Fletcher Street Cottage was the first time in a long time that someone looked me in the eye and asked how I was doing. A hot breakfast became regular meals. A conversation became support. Support became hope. Today I'm in stable housing, volunteering in my community and looking forward to the future again. Sometimes all it takes is someone believing in you before you can believe in yourself."
Stories like this remind us that homelessness doesn't define a person. With practical support, compassion and the right opportunities, people can rebuild their lives.
This Homelessness Week, we're sharing stories of hope to remind our community that everyone deserves dignity, respect and the chance to move forward.
