ACT Brumbies

Five of the 26 Female Youth Retention contracts have been awarded to players apart of the ACT Brumbies pathways program.

Sonrae Lui (Wing), Amy Maka (Prop), Maronay Smuts (Halfback), Isabella Tripet (Prop) and Sophia Wright (Backrow) have all been selected in the national program.

Funded by the Australian Rugby Foundation, the Youth Retention Contracts provide direct financial support to emerging female athletes, allowing them to focus on their rugby development while bridging the gap between junior pathways and senior representative rugby.

A new season of Swyftx Super Rugby AUS kicks off next month, with the opening round fixture taking place in Bungendore 🔥

Now in its second year, the four-team competition will see teams battling it out across three rounds, with the top two teams advancing to the Grand Final on Saturday, 3 October.

Tickets for the Bungendore and Viking Park fixtures will be on sale soon. Lock in the dates, rally your mates and get ready to hit the road and back the Brumbies as their Super Rugby AUS campaign begins.

Even the giants of The Odyssey would have looked twice at the Brumbies' newest recruit. Standing 203cm tall and weighing 130kg, lock Aiden Stait has signed a three-year deal with the Brumbies through to the end of the 2029 season.

Like Odysseus, Stait's route home wasn't a straight one, taking him from Bathurst to Bayonne before arriving in Brumbies colours.

"France was a great experience and it challenged me in a lot of ways, but I felt the best place for me to continue developing was back in Australia with the Brumbies," Stait said.

Stait will join the Brumbies ahead of the 2026 Super Rugby AUS campaign.

The teams will take part in the 2026 Provincial Girls XV to be played in September.

Brumbies Super W playmaker Ella Ryan returned to her old school, St Clare's College alongside her teammate Lily Bone and academy player Issy Tripet to run a rugby clinic ahead of the ACT & SNSW Rugby 7s Gala Day.

It was great for the team to get out there, be involved with the students and help promote the game in our schools. Thanks for having us!
