☀️Queensland, here we come! ☀
Later this afternoon we hit the road up to the Sunshine State for the biggest championship drag racing event held outside of the US: the Gulf Western Oil Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway.
After our very productive Nitro Champs, we have given The Missile a freshen up and are ready and rearing to go, with our eye on capturing as many championship points as we possibly can.
Something that will be a little different about this weekend compared to the other NDRC events we contest is that Willowbank Raceway employs the elimination racing format for the Winternats, instead of the all-run format.
This means that first, you must qualify for the eight-car field on Saturday, and then come Sunday's race day, if you lose a race, you are on the trailer – no second chances. So, with another competitive Top Doorslammer field lining up, the intensity is going to be sky high right from the get-go. But don't worry, we are ready for the challenge 💪

That’s been a Sunday afternoon spent right, loading up ready for our trip to Willowbank Raceway for the Winternats!
We hit the road Tuesday night, and we cannot wait ⏳

What a day! What a weekend!
✅Top Qualifier
✅Two round wins
✅A-Final runner-up
✅Five sixties all day long, including new PB after new PB, setting at 5.60
✅A whole heap of points
You can’t be unhappy with that: just ask the big man himself:
“That was a good result!” Jeremy grinned.
“Russell is always a tough competitor, and we really like racing with him – he is an awesome racer and a true gentlemen of the sport, so congratulations to him on the win.
“We opted to go on the conservative side due to the track temp, and it probably bit us, but I am happy – we got to the A-Final, the car is in great condition, and we are in a real good spot now to go through to the Winternationals.
“We got a heap of points this weekend, Top Qualifer, A-Final, and didn’t lose a round. It was a good weekend no matter how you look at it – everything is good and we have a fast car going sixties all weekend including the new PBs; I couldn’t be happier.”

“Today is just blowing my mind! I am surrounded by the best people!”
Our second round of racing delivered another new PB at 5.607 at 259mph – just a whisker off the national record for both ET and MPH – saw us turn on the win light, and snag low ET for the round, so by our calculations, we should have that A-Final berth we have been hunting locked down 💪

You have got to be happy with that :D
5.624 at 259mph in our first round of racing – low ET of the round so far, and an all-important win light, although we are sorry to see that Jack Danaher was unable to make it out to race alongside us due to car issues. Hope to see you back out here soon mate!
Round two is coming up fast at 1.30pm and we cannot wait – let’s see if we can get The Missile into another A-Final 🤞
