The Richmond and Essendon football clubs will write a new chapter in the history of the Dreamtime game, joining with Tourism Western Australia and the AFL to establish Dreamtime at Optus Stadium as part of a new two-year partnership.

The inaugural Dreamtime at Maali will be hosted by Essendon in Perth on Sunday 4 July 2027, the opening day of NAIDOC Week, in an afternoon timeslot. The match will create a new platform to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities and their contribution to Australian football.

Nik Cox, Tom Edwards and Kayle Gerreyn have been informed they won’t be offered contracts for next season.

The Club will remain open to train-on opportunities for each of the boys, should list spots become available in pre-season.

Bomber fans could have another Caracella to watch and he’s already making an impression!

Tom Caracella, son of former Bombers premiership player Blake Caracella, enjoyed a strong under-18 season, kicking "45 goals in 17 games" for Newtown & Chilwell.

The 195cm key forward saved one of his standout performances for the grand final, booting three goals to help his side claim the premiership.

Tom has been part of Essendon’s James Hird Academy since age 16 and has received valuable advice from his father, who won an Essendon premiership in 2000 before later adding another flag with Brisbane.

The young forward hopes to follow in his dad’s footsteps, but knows there is still plenty of work ahead. He is aiming for a strong pre-season and further improvement as he pursues his AFL dream.

Essendon has appointed Daniel Pratt as the Club’s Senior Assistant Coach ahead of the 2027 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

The 43-year-old joins from the Western Bulldogs, where he has been an assistant coach since the end of 2023. He was named the AFL Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year in 2024, which is voted by the players and coaches at each club.

Pratt began his coaching career at Box Hill before moving to West Coast as a development coach in 2014. He was the Eagles’ backline coach in their 2018 premiership and was head coach of West Coast’s AFLW team in 2021.

As a player, Pratt played 119 AFL games, 116 with North Melbourne and three with the Brisbane Lions.

In his new role, Pratt will be elevated to Senior Assistant and work closely with Senior Coach Mark McVeigh across the football program.
