IMPORTANT RULE CHANGES - SUMMER 2026/27
Broadmeadows Basketball Association (BBA) has updated its Behavioural Technical Foul Policy following changes to the classification of unsportsmanlike fouls.
Under the updated rules, unsportsmanlike fouls are classified into two categories:
DISRUPTIVE FOULS
These include:
* Clear path fouls.
* Deliberately fouling an opponent to stop play or prevent the ball from advancing.
FLAGRANT FOULS
These include:
* Contact that is not part of a legitimate basketball play.
* Reckless, violent or dangerous actions that cause or could cause injury.
* Excessive or hard contact against an opponent, even when attempting to play the ball.
WHAT’S CHANGING?
Flagrant fouls will now be included in BBA’s Behavioural Technical Foul Policy and Sin Bin processes.
These changes reinforce the importance of player safety, fair play and respectful behaviour on the court.
We encourage all players, coaches, Team Managers and families to familiarise themselves with the updated rules before the season begins.
Play hard. Play fair. Respect the game.
