πŸ“£ BALMORAL ON YORK PE GREEN MEMORIAL RACE SUNDAY 13 SEPTEMBER

Next Sunday is our third and final open race of the season the Balmoral on York PE Green Memorial 45km graded handicap.

It’s been super encouraging to see riders from U17 to Elite riders able to race with us this season, first at the Villino CoffeebGrindelwald Hillclimb Challenge and at My Ride Launceston Sawpit Hill Gravel.

The Balmoral on York PE Green Memorial is the third race in our open race series, and is held at Cressy over 2 laps the traditional sprinter-friendly, Green Rises Road - Elphinstone Road course.

β€˜The PE Green’ has long been a feature of the Tasmanian cycling calendar and was organised by Peter and Molly Fraser at Northern Districts Cycling Club until they called it a day last season.

Thank you to the race sponsor Balmoral on York for coming on board this season to ensure the PE Green remains a fixture on the race calendar for seasons to come.

⏰ Registration is at Bartholomew Park. Please do not park in the bus stop on Church Street. Racing starts at 10am sharp directly in front of the park. Please ensure you arrive by 9:30am and you are present for the compulsory race briefing at 9:45am.

πŸ—ΊοΈ As always, if you’re not familiar with the course, ensure you download the course from Ride With GPS and upload it onto your bicycle computer.

You can find the course map here:

πŸ›΅ The ride out this week will leave the Country Club Avenue roundabout on Westbury Road at 8:30am sharp.

πŸ“ For U17 riders the usual gear restrictions apply and a roll out will be performed by the commissaire prior to the race briefing.

πŸ›°οΈ Feature race transponders will be allocated for this race so Masters riders do not need to bring their own Race Result seat post transponder.

A fantastic day at SYMMONS PLAINS for the LCCC time trial and road race event.

The LCCC crew were pleased to host the racing for riders from all corners of Tassie and to give our Junior and Masters a good racing experience before they head over to the Australian National Champs soon.

The juniors were first off in the Time Trial with Under 17 Sid Natera clocking the third fastest time of the day over the same distance as the seniors, behind Will Clarke and Dylan Locke.

In the Under 15’s, it was Noah Blazely and Theo Taberlay in a close finish in the Under 13’s Time Trial.

In the combined CD Grades Time Trial, it was newcomer Jackson Carroll who took out a three second lead ahead of Annie Kleywegt and Lucie Johnston in an extremely close finish.

The AB Graded road race was taken out by Ainsleigh Gray who won in a 6 lap solo effort from a fast finishing Will Clarke and first place Under 17 Sid Natera.

For the Under 15, CDE and F Grades all competing together, it was John Bertram who timed a perfect sprint to take out the win from first place Under 17 female rider Ellie Walduck, Annie Kleywegt and Freya Miller.

James McKee was the EF Grade winner consistent in taking out the Time Trial and Road Race.

Full race results are in the photos below.

LCCC thank the sponsors Giant Devonport, Cycology, and Cycle2 for their support of the event. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thanks to all the officials and volunteers who helped make the day a great one. Also a big thank you to Paul Jager of HWDD for his support of the timing system. πŸ™

πŸ“¬ Our next race will be the State Road Championships on SATURDAY 24 October 2026.
