New $15K To Win Event at Avalon Raceway Creates Calendar Adjustment
With the 2026-27 Avalon Raceway season rapidly approaching an exciting development has resulted in a minor change to the venues Race Calendar.
The changes relate to two different previously advertised Sprintcar events on Saturday November 7, 2026, and Friday December 11, 2026.
The Routley’s Bakery Fireball Derby event had been advertised for Friday December 11, 2026; however this will now return to its more traditional date of Saturday November 7, with continued support from Routley’s Bakery and featuring the Formula 500 Aussie Title Preview event.
The excitement really bubbles to the surface regarding the event as slated for Friday December 11, 2026.
It is with great pleasure that Avalon Raceway can announce that this event will now be the JSR Shootout and to feature Super Sedans in support as previously advertised.
The Sprintcar event, that will honour the memory of legendary competitor, team owner, entrepreneur and personality Mr. John Sidney, will pay $15,000.00 to the winner, to set up a massive double header and synergy with Premier Speedway’s Max’s Race, which is scheduled for Saturday December 12, 2026.
“We have been very fortunate to be able to work with some people close to John behind the scenes to be able to create an event of this magnitude”, Avalon Raceway Speedway Operations Manager David Mills said.
“The intention of this partnership is that it is locked in for ten years, so we hope that we can build it into another key date of the Australian Speedway calendar, we truly can’t thank those involved enough”, he added.
The 2026 version of the JSR Shootout will be a part of the Doolan’s Heavy Haulage Sprintcar Track Championship as presented by Camden Signage and Building Services, Transall Motors, NAPA Geelong and Penrite Oil.
