📣 MARKERS & UMPIRES WANTED 📣
Our players, coaches, selectors, officials and volunteers all have a role to play in building a stronger high-performance culture. We'd love you to be part of it.
With the inaugural Bowls Tasmania Development Series now just over a week away, we are seeking the assistance of qualified Markers and Umpires to help deliver what promises to be an exciting weekend of high-performance competition.
The Development Series will bring together players from our Junior, Para, Senior and Open squads, competing in an environment designed to replicate the demands of representative bowls. As part of that experience, quality officiating will play an important role in ensuring players, coaches and selectors can perform in a professional setting.
We are particularly looking for volunteers who have recently gained their Marking or Umpiring qualifications, as well as experienced Markers and Umpires who are looking to further develop their skills and gain experience officiating in a high-performance environment.
📅 Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 June
📍 Kings Meadows Bowls Club High Performance Centre
Whether you can assist for a session, a day, or the entire weekend, we would love to hear from you.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support the future of Tasmanian bowls, contribute to player development, and be part of a new initiative that is helping shape our high-performance pathway.
If you are available and willing to assist, please comment below or contact Bowls Tasmania directly by emailing [email protected]

📣 Bowls Tasmania Board 2026-27
Bowls Tasmania is pleased to announce its Board for the 2026–27 season. We extend our congratulations and gratitude to the following dedicated members who have volunteered their time and expertise to guide our sport over the coming year.
President — Lynne McDougall
Treasurer — John Birch
Board Members - Daniel Baker, Paul Costello, Phil Hobbs, Lynda Murphy‑Dempster, Jane Pickett, Leonie Price, and Phil Prouse
Their collective experience and commitment will help strengthen the sport across the state as we move into another exciting year.
📣Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Bowls Clubs
If you did not watch the Bowls Australia Clubmap webinar on “AI helping bowls clubs”, I would strongly recommend you have a look at it by visiting the Bowls Australia Clubmap Resources Hub on the Bowls Australia website.
The webinar shared examples of how AI is being used in bowls clubs, it demonstrated how to improve administration and operations efficiency, it showed ways to utilise AI to help with revenue and fundraising and included practical examples of the questions you need to ask of AI.
Our clubs rely heavily on volunteers who manage operations in their spare time. AI bridges this gap by saving hours of manual work. It can help a club secretary complete a week's worth of paperwork in minutes. It can assist in preparing complex grant applications, newsletters, social media posts and more by simply feeding in raw information. It can create tailored corporate sponsorship packages in minutes. AI acts as an "invisible volunteer" that can certainly reduce the administrative burden on time-poor committees.
📣 Calendars 2026-27 to 2028-29
The Bowls Tasmania event calendars for the next three seasons have now been approved and have been published on the Bowls Tasmania website.
These calendars include:
- Key Bowls Australia events
- All Bowls Tasmania events
- Key High‑Performance dates
This multi‑year visibility will help regions, clubs, players, and officials plan ahead with confidence.
📣 Live Streaming
Following the successful live streaming of the State Senior Championships grand finals at Rosny Park in February 2026, Bowls Tasmania has formalised an agreement on an exciting new partnership with Content visuals.
Beginning in 2027, the following events will be live-streamed by Content Visuals:
🌟 Open grand finals during our January Gala Week
🌟 Grand finals at the Senior Championships in February
🌟 Open grand finals during our March Gala Week
This initiative will broaden access to our sport and showcase Tasmanian bowls to a wider audience.
If you know a business or organisation interested in advertising during these broadcasts, please contact Bowls Tasmania.
📣 Next Best Qualifiers for State Championships
After an absence of many years, Bowls Tasmania has agreed to re-introduce next best qualifiers in all State Championship events in 2026-27 to avoid byes in post-sectional games.

The Board and members of the Latrobe Bowls Club wish to pass on their condolences to the Timmermans family on the passing of their mother, a past player of our Club.
"Elisabeth Franziska Timmermans
18/12/1947 - 12/06/2025
Mum to Suzette, Marcel and Clare.
Beloved Oma to Michael, Billy, Jackson and Jacob.
Ellis’ journey on this earth has ended, she is at peace. The Angels came and she has gone Home. She left us just after midnight on the 12th of June. Her beautiful friend Charmaine was holding her hand.
She was in palliative care in a lovely nursing home the last three weeks. She filled her time with friends from the home, enjoying the knitting group, playing cribbage and bingo. She also enjoyed the company of her friends who visited. Her decline was extremely rapid and her pain was under control. The nursing home staff, the Chaplin and the Doctor were all absolutely incredible. We are extremely impressed with the kindness and compassion that was shown to Ellis in her final weeks and is something we will be forever grateful for.
Privately cremated, no funeral as per her wishes."

The Club hosted a round of the BPL at the Club today with six teams entered.
All teams were to play each other with the winner going through to the next round.
Congratulations to our own Demon team of Bryce Castles, Jason Bryan and Leila Jeffrey on winning all games going through to the next round. This is the Demon's second section winner with the Gaffney family already winning a previous event.
A big thank you to Trudy Webb for not only running the event, but acting as Umpire for the day as well. (Jenny had a learning day on Bowlslink when some of the scorecards were a little ambiguous, but got it correct in the end.😂😂)
Thank you to all the teams who entered and for those who came along to watch some very good bowls being played.
