🏃♀️🏃♂️ FRIDAY COMPETITION NIGHTS 🏃♂️🏃♀️
✨️What to Expect✨️
As we get ready for our Friday night competitions, here is a quick guide to how the evening will run and what we need from our families to help everything run smoothly.
⏰ 5:40pm | ARRIVAL
Please arrive at Langdon Park by 5:40pm.
🔴 Parent helpers – We require at least 4 parent helpers per age group. All helpers please collect a high-vis vest from the recording table in the clubhouse awning and collect the age group folder.
😀 If the age group folder has already been collected please find the person with it and introduce yourself as another helper for the age group.
📋 The age group folder will contain the list of events, athletes and field recording sheets for the night.
⏰ 5:45pm | AGE GROUP LINE-UP
Athletes are to line up behind their age group trolley, which will be clearly labelled.
⏰ 5:50pm | WARM-UP
Athletes will complete their warm-up with their age groups.
⏰ 6:00pm | EVENTS BEGIN
Athletes and parent helpers will move to their first scheduled event.
👋 PARENT HELPERS
One parent/carer from each family is expected to assist with their child’s age group or volunteer in another role around the oval.
There are plenty of ways to help within your child’s age group or elsewhere on the field, including:
• Raking
• Measuring
• Retrieving and returning shot put/discus/javelin
• Recording results
• Assisting with the high jump bar
• Writing race tickets
• Place judging
• Timekeeping/Photo Finish
• Starting
…and more!
Many hands make our competition nights run smoothly, and no experience is necessary. ❤️
🏃 EVENTS
Athletes will generally compete in 5 events each competition night.
• 1 Sprint
• 1 Jump
• 1 Throw
• 1 Specialised Track Event (distance, hurdles, race walking)
• 1 additional Sprint, Jump or Throw
Note: Age Groups who have High Jump scheduled will compete in 4 events that night.
👟 SPIKES – U11s & ABOVE
Athletes in the U11 or older age group are permitted to wear spikes during laned track events, long/triple jump, high jump and javelin. A reminder that spikes must be put on at the event and removed immediately at the completion of that event. Athletes caught wearing spikes outside of a competition area will not be able to wear spikes going forward.
❤️🩶 Most importantly — have fun!
Competition nights are about athletes having a go, improving their skills and enjoying being part of the Redcliffe Little Athletics community.
We look forward to seeing everyone at Langdon Park! 🏃♀️🏃♂️
