We are saddened to learn of the passing of Lyndon Downing (Park Orchards BMX Club), a life member of AusCycling (formerly BMX Australia).

A respected innovator, volunteer and friend to many, Lyndon's impact on the sport extended far beyond the finish line.

Through his expertise, innovation and tireless commitment, he played a pivotal role in the development and operation of BMX racing timing, scoring and event management systems that became a cornerstone of Australian and overseas events.

That creation was BEM - BMX Event Manager, launched in 1999 and developed in a volunteer capacity thanks to the support of BMX clubs that used the program.

Our thoughts and commiserations are with Lyndon's family.

AusCycling welcomes the strong support shown by member clubs at today's 2026 Annual General Meeting, with 124 clubs participating in the vote.

More than 87 per cent of voting clubs supported proposed constitutional amendments, while Craig Bingham and Lee Brentzell were re-elected to the Board for an additional three-year term.
