Aces Sporting Club VSBL Senior Player of the Week 📣 ⚾️

Keenan Spence went 5-for-5 over the weekend with three singles and two home runs for 6 RBIs. 🔥

The Newport Rams Premier League 1 player covered first base, making some great tags to get runners out.

He also had to step up as a fill-in coach with the head coach out with the flu — a true leader in all respects this week.

P.S. Keenan kept his hitting streak going with a two-hit midweek game.

Nicely done! 👏 👏

All will score a gift voucher from our friends at Ausport Superstore.

Our first midweeks of the season are done and dusted! 🙌

There was plenty of action to be found around our grounds, with some close games and some standout players. 👏⚾

Sunshine's Hunter Jones brought the heat with his pitching, with 4 shutout innings and only giving up 2 hits to Williamstown. Supporting in their batting, Darryl George and Jamie Young each hit home runs, with George also reaching 3 RBIs.

Harvey Chinn led the batting for Melbourne, with a home run and 4 RBIs, while also being assisted by Blake Mitchell, who scored 3 of Melbourne's 7 runs, allowing them to win by a single run over Cheltenham.

Offensively for Moorabbin, Brady Jeffcoat once again pushed the team forward, hitting 2 home runs, and scoring a total of 3 runs. Liam Puncher pitched 3 innings, where he only gave up a single hit and a single run.

Waverley saw outstanding games from multiple players, with 4 hitting home runs against Upwey. Ben Fierenzi scored 2 home runs and 3 RBIs, while Charlie Collins, Reece Longstaff and Shakore Bragg-Taylor also hit a home run each.

For Geelong, Jarryd Wood dominated the team, hitting a home run in the bottom of the first, and a grand slam in the bottom of the third, resulting in 7 RBIs from 2 hits.

Step Up to the Plate: Expressions of Interest Open for Baseball Victoria’s Pride Round. 👏🌈⚾

Baseball Victoria is partnering with Pride Cup to host a Pride Round across multiple weekends to allow all clubs to host, and we’re looking for clubs keen to take part. 🤝

Why it matters:
80% of Australians have witnessed or experienced homophobia while playing or watching sport. Too many LGBTIQ+ people are being pushed out of sport or feel they have to hide who they are. A Pride Round sends a clear message that everyone belongs in sport.

The impact:
• For your members: A Monash University and VicHealth evaluation found that clubs that have hosted a Pride Cup show 40–50% less homophobic behaviour than clubs that haven’t.
• For player retention: People stay where they feel safe and valued. When LGBTIQ+ players, umpires, volunteers and fans feel welcome, they keep playing and keep coming back, and so do their families and friends.
• For the wider community: Clubs are the heart of local communities. The benefits flow beyond the diamond, making our neighbourhoods safer and more inclusive.

What’s involved:
Pride Cup will support participating clubs with FREE game-day guidance, an organiser handbook, a free LGBTIQ+ inclusion education session for your club and promotion across Pride Cup’s channels.

To express your interest, submit the form at https://bit.ly/pridecup-eoi or scan the QR code. 🙌
