A GOLD COIN CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE! 💜

From 19th October – 1st November, GKR Karate is proudly supporting RizeUp Australia, helping women and children impacted by domestic and family violence rebuild their lives.
We invite all our GKR Karate students and families to come together, wear your purple belt and bring a gold coin donation to class.

A small act of kindness can make a meaningful difference to another family's fresh start.

Let's come together as a karate community and show the power of kindness, generosity and support.

Every contribution counts! 💜

🚨ATTENTION 🚨

CHANGES TO MORNINGTON PRIME TIMETABLE!🥋

With our Mornington Prime dojo continuing to grow, we’ve made a few changes to our timetable that we’re really excited about!
As of this week, you’ll notice a few changes:

• Separate Yoji & Kids Classes
Our Yoji and Kids classes have been getting bigger and bigger, which is an awesome problem to have! We’ve listened to the feedback from our families and will now be separating these classes.
This means smaller class sizes, more individual attention and a better training environment for our students.

• 5:00pm classes are moving to 5:15pm
Our 5:00pm classes will now start at 5:15pm. This will help with the crossover between classes, give us a little more room in the car park and allow everyone enough time to get signed in and ready for class.

• Grade Specific Classes
We’re also introducing more grade specific classes to the timetable, including White to Orange Belt and Green Belt & Above classes.
This gives our students more opportunities to train with others at a similar stage in their karate journey and spend more time working on skills specific to their grade.

Please have a look over the new timetable below and take note of any changes to your usual classes.

We’re really excited about these changes and what they’ll mean for our students as Mornington Prime continues to grow!

If you’re unsure which class you or your child should be attending, please get in contact with Sensei Seaenah on 0468 339 398!

Thank you for the strength, guidance and encouragement you bring to our karate community. We hope you all have a wonderful Father’s Day!

🥋 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS — ENTRIES CLOSE THIS SUNDAY! 🥋

A quick reminder that entries for the 2026 GKR Karate Tasmanian State Championships close THIS SUNDAY, 30th August!

If you’ve been thinking about competing, this is your sign to jump in and give it a go.

Competition is about so much more than winning medals. It gives you an opportunity to challenge yourself, test the skills you’ve developed in the dojo, build confidence under pressure and discover what you’re capable of when you step outside your comfort zone.

But perhaps just as importantly, tournaments are FUN!

There’s something special about being immersed in a full day of karate, warming up with your teammates, supporting your friends, watching other competitors, celebrating the wins, learning from the losses and meeting karateka from across the state.

You’ll make memories, build friendships and experience a side of karate that simply can’t be replicated inside your regular class.

Whether it’s your first tournament or your 50th, come along, have a crack and enjoy the experience.

Entries close online THIS SUNDAY, 30th August — and we look forward to seeing you on the tatami! 👊🥋

Let’s make CHAMPS ’26 a day to remember! 🔥🐉

Sensei David Mogford was recently featured on WIN News Canberra. Watch below as he shares the importance of self-defence education for young girls and how it helps build confidence, awareness and practical skills.

In mid-June, several of our Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian senior group volunteered to complete a Homes set-up with our charity partner, RizeUp Australia.

RizeUp provides all the practical items needed for victim-survivors of family and domestic violence to make a fresh start, including furniture and other household items that help transform empty houses into homes.

When each of our GKR teams arrived at their location, they were greeted by a RizeUp driver, an empty house and a truck filled with flatpacks and homewares. The teams set about unloading the truck, assembling the flatpacks, making beds, filling pantries and carefully decorating the space. This included fitting out children’s bedrooms and providing them with the materials needed to start at a new school.

After 4+ hours of work at each location, the transformation from house to home left a lasting memory for all involved. With the knowledge that a family would be entering their newly furnished home in the coming days, each team member took comfort in knowing that they had helped create a new beginning for someone in need.

We are incredibly grateful to RizeUp for the work they do and for the opportunity to be involved in their Homes program. We also appreciate the amazing support shown by all of our students and instructors who participate in the Stop Domestic & Family Violence Purple Belt Campaign. Your involvement means a lot, not only to RizeUp and the families they help, but also to GKR Karate as a whole.

If you would like to volunteer with RizeUp to help setting up Homes, information can be found here https://www.rizeup.com.au/volunteer
