What a fantastic day had by all... There aren't too many sports where you can turn up for a Sunday competition in Traralgon and find yourself playing alongside multiple Australian representatives! Fourteen accomplished bridge players made the trip from Melbourne, volunteering their time to each join three local players from across Gippsland for a day that mixed serious competition with plenty of learning, laughter and the occasional important side contest.
📚 Watch out for the full club update in the upcoming BV Bulletin, provided by Helen McAdam at Traralgon Bridge Club

Restricted team winners 👏 Left to right Barbara Barr, Phillip Goode, Anna St Clair (captain) and Maria McTaggert... Bridge stars and locals team up for a different kind of Sunday in Traralgon Bridge Club read the update in next months Bridge Victoria bulletin ♣♦♠❤

One of our Traralgon teams did a great job yesterday, winning the Restricted section of the Gippsland region Teams of 3 competition. Team captain Anna is a very successful Melbourne player who travelled to Traralgon to lead our team of Barbara, Phillip and Maria.
We also did very well in the open section with our teams coming 2nd and 3rd.
Bridge is one of the few competitive games in which ordinary club members can play against State and National champions. Our event yesterday enabled players from across Gippsland to play with senior and youth champions to get some great help and feedback about their play.
It's all part of building a Bridge community across Victoria.

Victorian Youth Bridge 🎙 Rebecca O’Reilly (Becs) ran the Goss Brothers through a few questions at Youth Bridge on Tuesdays... “As expected the more questions I asked the more they started disagreeing with each other. Very typical brotherly behaviour!" 😂

What is the single best piece of advice a mentor or older bridge player has ever given you?
♠ Alex: “Don’t do that” - Laura Ginnan
♠ Sam: “Trust your partner” - Matthew Sieredzinski
♠ Both: “ 5 over 5 is wrong even when it is right” Mike Doecke

Some people have played bridge for decades - will you?
♠ Both: Yes, we are going to be the next Sharp brothers, watch out!
