This one hurts..
Today we said our goodbyes to our favourite Dutchman Mikey.
18 months ago we took a chance on Mikey coming over from the hospitality industry to pursue his passion of fitness and without a doubt it was the best decision we ever made.
Over the last 18 months the great man has become part of the furniture at BFT Mayfield. From early mornings, to late nights, Mikey has given his all to the members at Mayf.
He genuinely cares about each and everyone of our members.
From his elaborate talk times, hilarious reels, on point coaching cues, and more recently his dutch raves. Mikey has brought passion, kindness and lots of fun to BFT Mayfield.
It was a testament to the person he is to see so many people turnout for him over the last 2 days to say their good byes.
We wish Mike, Nat and little V all the best on their next adventure.
You will be missed so much mate. It’s not goodbye it’s see you soon! 🫶

WEEK 0 | 3rd – 9th August
Welcome to Week 0 and the start of our brand-new Performance Block!
This week is our deload week, which means we’re intentionally dropping the intensity back a notch before kicking off the next 9 weeks of structured training. A deload doesn’t mean we’re training less—it means we’re giving your body the opportunity to recover from the previous block, absorb all the hard work you’ve put in, and prepare for what’s ahead.
Recovery is where progress happens. By reducing the overall intensity this week, you’ll feel fresher, move better, and be ready to attack the next phase of training. It’s also the perfect opportunity to slow things down, focus on movement quality, and become familiar with our two new main lifts: the Barbell Conventional Deadlift and Barbell Military Press.
The focus this week is simple:
Recover and reset after the previous block
Learn and refine the new movement patterns
Prioritise technique over heavy loading
Build confidence with the Deadlift and Military Press
Prepare your body for the next 9 weeks of progressive training
Extra:
🏋️ New main lifts introduced: Barbell Conventional Deadlift & Military Press
📉 Deload Week – reduced intensity, improved recovery and movement quality
🚀 Set yourself up for a strong start to the next 9 weeks
This week you’ll have:
2 × Strength sessions
1 × Cardio session
2 × Hybrid sessions
1 × Balanced session

Do you fall off the band wagon after an 8 week challenge? The sneaky fast food runs become a main character and the snooze alarm is getting more of a workout then you.
If you have an all or nothing approach to eating well, focus on improving the things you do most often.
Do you often over snack at night, swide for some healthier snack ideas.
Do you skip lunch and over eat at dinner, try this simple portion guide to keep you on track.
You may not be able to maintain the same level of discipline and consistency you’ve shown in the 8WC, but finding a sustainable new normal is the key to long term health and wellbeing.

🎉 MILESTONE TIME! 🎉
This week we’re celebrating three absolute legends of the BFT family! 💙
💥 500 Sessions – Char 💥
One of our retired HYROX athletes… although we’ve heard whispers that retirement might not last much longer. 👀 Char is one of the true OGs of the gym. Always up for a chat and a laugh, but when it’s time to work, she switches on and gives it absolutely everything. Her 500th session came during an emotional week an amazing milestone in the gym, but heartbreak for her beloved England on the pitch. We love having you as part of the community, Char, and can’t wait to see what the next 500 sessions bring… maybe a HYROX comeback? 😏
⚡ 250 Sessions – Lucas ⚡
Lucas reached his 250-session milestone just a couple of sessions before his mate! A regular in the afternoon crew, he loves the cardio sessions, the sweat, and a good challenge. He never backs away from a target and always gives it his all. He’s also our resident electrician, so whenever we have an electrical question or need a bit of advice around the studio, Lucas is always the first person we ask. Thanks for always helping us out, mate, and congratulations on an awesome milestone!
🔥 250 Sessions – Reece 🔥
Another one of the Three Musketeers, Reece finally caught up with his 250 sessions… although he’ll tell you he should’ve got there first because he sometimes forgets to book into class. 😂 You’ll usually find him training with the boys in the afternoons or at 7am if he can’t make it later. Just like Lucas, he loves the cardio sessions and always goes hard. The competition between the boys keeps them all pushing to be better, and it’s awesome to watch.
Congratulations, Char, Lucas and Reece! Thanks for being such a big part of what makes our community so special. Here’s to the next milestones! 💙👏
