Round 2 of the Super 10 stage of Success Avenue NPL 5.0 continued with another cracking round, as teams across both divisions produced plenty of action and impressive individual performances. Round 2 once again showed the depth of talent across the competition, with several batters producing match-winning innings and bowlers stepping up with crucial spells to help their teams secure valuable results.

Afghan Blue Tigers’ Izaan Mohammed leads the way as the Player of the Week after an excellent all-round performance. Izaan first made his impact with the ball, finishing with 3 wickets for 24 runs from his four overs before returning to the crease and remaining unbeaten on 83 from 53 balls, striking nine fours and three sixes. His contribution in both innings made him the most impactful player of the round and earned him this week’s top honour.

The Super Striker of the Week award goes to Newcastle Qalandars’ Atif Ul Hassan, who produced the fastest innings of the round with a blistering 44 from just 14 deliveries. Scoring at an incredible strike rate of 314.28, he wasted little time in putting pressure on the opposition and assisted in powering his team to a mammoth total of 263, and set another example of the explosive batting that continues to be a feature of NPL 5.0.

Elsewhere in the competition, there was no shortage of outstanding batting performances. Knights Watchmen’s Varun Sharma and Dapinder Sharma both produced quick-fire scores of 73 and 74 respectively to power their side to victory, while Newcastle Titans’ Muhammad Tariq smashed 69 from just 31 balls during a successful chase. Rahul Bakshi also played a key role for Maitland Super Kings, remaining unbeaten on 79 to guide his team home. Brown Munde Cricket Club saw Kashish Panseja and Shujaath Ali Khan play important roles in another successful chase. Punjab Warriors’ Narinder Kumar starred for his team with an unbeaten 92 from 50 balls in their victory. Newcastle Qalandars posted a huge 263 to claim the win, powered by Ali Hassan’s outstanding 97 from 44 deliveries and Super Striker Atif Ul Hassan’s attacking innings. With so many quality innings across the round, there were plenty more performances that could have easily made the list.

TMCC’s David Seib takes home the Economic Bowler of the Week award after another disciplined spell, finishing with 3 wickets for just 12 runs from his three overs. With an economy rate of 4.00, David kept the scoring under control while consistently finding breakthroughs, providing his side with a valuable contribution during a round where runs were once again flowing freely.

Newcastle Hunters’ Renjith Mathew produced a remarkable bowling performance this round, claiming 5 wickets for 25 runs from his four overs. His spell cut through the opposition batting lineup and kept his side in the contest, earning him the Lightning Bowler of the Week award.

Round 2 of the Super 10 stage was truly an impressive week for bowlers, with four-wicket hauls also coming from Khuram Razzaq of Badshah, Nikhil Nikhil of Newcastle Titans, Kartik Kamboj of Wallsend United, Ahmadullah Fazli of Afghan Blue Tigers and Harish Javvadula of Punjab Warriors. The number of major wicket-taking performances was another highlight of a round where the bowlers continued to make their mark despite the usual batting prowess that’s become a specialty in this competition.

Round 2 of the Super 10 stage once again highlighted just how competitive Success Avenue NPL 5.0 has become. The combination of huge team totals, successful run chases and a remarkable number of individual batting and bowling performances made for another entertaining round of cricket. With teams continuing to battle for strong positions across both divisions, the Super 10 stage is already producing plenty of memorable moments, with more expected as the competition moves into the next round.
