Newcastles most funkiest dance studio bringing you whats fresh and new in the world of dance! Beats Dance Studio is different from others.

Beats dance studio opened in Newcastle in 2008 and is now in it's 16th year of operation. Beats Dance Studio specialises in Funk, Jazz, Street Tap, Cheerleading, Contemporary, Acro and Aerial Hoop. It is unique, it is fresh and most of all it is Fun! You can find us dancing in our studios located close to you at Mayfield and Merewether. Goal:
Our goal is to provide entertainment, exercise and skill to students of all ages. To achieve this goal we ensure students love coming to dance, we encourage participation and let each individual shine! Values

We are so proud of our BDS students who took part in dance exams throughout August! You worked hard, showed courage and received some wonderful results. 🌟

At BDS, we offer optional exam opportunities in LGTDA Tap and ATOD Ballet. Preparing for an exam gives dancers a goal to work towards while building technique, confidence, focus and skills. It’s also a chance to see just how much they’ve grown.

We received lovely feedback about so many of you. Every dancer should be proud of the effort they put in and what they achieved. Congratulations to you all! 💛

✨ WHAT A NIGHT! ✨

An absolutely incredible night at Stars of Newcastle 2026! 💃🕺🌟

We are so proud to have been part of this amazing event once again, alongside some truly wonderful local people, businesses and performers, all coming together for one very important reason — to raise much-needed funds for Cancer Council NSW. 💛

Raising over $170,000 raised, with fundraising still continuing — an incredible result for our Newcastle community.

At Beats, we absolutely love being part of our local community and having opportunities like this to use what we love — dance — to contribute to something so much bigger than ourselves.

A huge congratulations to our four incredible Stars Corey, Christy, Laura and Dani, and to our BDS team Izzy, Lewis, Rochelle and Madi for the time, energy and heart they poured into bringing four fantastic routines to the Newcastle City Hall stage. ❤️

Beyond the costumes, rehearsals and performances, this event is about making a genuine difference. Every dollar raised helps Cancer Council fund cancer research, prevention programs, advocacy and vital support services for people and families affected by cancer.

What a night. What a community. And what a privilege to play our little part. 💛

Preschool dance—where little imaginations run wild and our tiniest dancers are always the stars of the show! 🌟

Our 45-minute preschool classes are jam-packed with fun, introducing little dancers to jazz, hip hop and tap while building confidence, coordination, creativity and friendships.

Term 4 enrolments are now open, with classes continuing until 19 December. There’s no need to wait for a new year, any time is the perfect time for your preschooler to join the fun! 💛

ONE WEEK TO GO! 🌟

The routines are finished, the final touches are being added, and we are officially just one week out from Stars of Newcastle 2026!

This year, we have the privilege of working with four local legends and bringing four incredible routines to the stage. Our BDS team members Izzy, Lewis, Rochelle and Madi have been working with local stars Corey, Christy, Laura and Dani to create some magic for the Newcastle City Hall stage next week.

We’re so excited to enter show week and reach the pinnacle of this incredible campaign—all while supporting Cancer Council and doing our part to make a difference in our local community. 💛

Creating beautiful lines, shapes and movement—ballet style! 🩰

Behind every graceful performance are countless repetitions, careful corrections and plenty of hard work. Our dancers are continuing to refine their technique, timing and placement.

We have absolutely loved having Miss Larissa as part of our BDS family throughout Term 3! 💛

Her experience, vibrant personality and incredible choreography skills have brought such a great energy to our studio. From our performance troupes to our recreational classes, Miss Larissa has created some amazing routines and we can’t wait to see our dancers bring them to life on stage!

Our preschoolers are channelling their inner hip hop, and they are bringing plenty of attitude! 🔥

In 2026, BDS introduced Hip Hop as a permanent style across all age levels and the routines are looking fierce, from our littlest preschoolers right through to our seniors.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO OUR DANCE DADS!

Today we celebrate the dads who…

🕺 Master the last-minute dance drop-off
👗 Attempt to understand costumes, stockings and hair requirements
📦 Build props and carry everything heavy
🚗 Spend hours driving to classes, rehearsals and competitions
👏 Cheer loudly even when they have no idea which routine is next

You may not always know the difference between a pirouette and a plié, but you never miss a chance to support your dancer.

Happy Father’s Day to all our wonderful dance dads, grandads and special father figures.
