🏆 2026 RAY ECKERMANN JUNIOR VOLUNTEER AWARD – BILLY WANDEL 🏆

The Blyth Snowtown Football Club is very proud to announce Billy Wandel as the 2026 recipient of the Ray Eckermann Junior Volunteer Award.

This award holds an extra-special meaning this year, with Billy being Ray Eckermann’s great-grandson. 💙🤍

The award was established in Ray’s memory to recognise a junior player who displays the qualities Ray valued and demonstrated throughout his involvement with the Cats — passion, loyalty, encouragement, respect and genuine care for the Club and its people.

Billy is a natural leader both on and off the field. He takes great pride in his football, prepares himself exceptionally well and regularly completes extra training with our senior squads to ensure he is as fit and prepared as possible.

His football achievements already include:

⭐ 2026 U17 Association Team – Carnival Winners
⭐ 2026 Initial selection – Woodville-West Torrens U16 Talent Development Squad
⭐ 2025 U17 Rising Star Award
⭐ 2025 U15 Association Team
⭐ 2024 U14 Best & Fairest Runner-Up
⭐ 2024 U15 Association Team
⭐ 2024 U14 Association Team
⭐ 2023 U14 Best & Fairest

But importantly, this award isn’t about football ability or individual accolades — it’s about character, contribution and Club spirit.

Billy demonstrates all three.

He is regularly seen alongside his mates helping pack away the goal posts following the U9 and U12 games without ever needing to be asked. He is also one of the first to put his hand up when there is work to be done, including helping Club members with lamb tailing to raise important funds for the Cats.

These are often the little things that go unnoticed, but they are exactly what this award is about.

For Billy to receive an award honouring the legacy of his own great-grandfather makes this a particularly special moment for the Wandel and Eckermann families and for our Club.
