The University Hawks (est 1989), play junior and senior amateur AFL in Townsville at Riverway Stadium The Hawks AFC was established in 1989.

We relocated to the University campus in the early 90’s and have remained there since. During this time we have enjoyed much success having won 9 Senior Premierships and 7 Reserve Grade Premierships. Although we have been based at the University for a majority of this time, most of our members have been from the wider community and we have only relied on the University to top up player numbers. The Majority of our office bearers over the years have all been from outside the University. A few of which have been involved with the running of the club since its inception in 1989.
