What an AWESOME morning at the Geelong Spectres Play with Pride event! 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️

There’s something pretty special about seeing our community come together, bring all their amazing vibes, and — most importantly — bring their whole, authentic selves to the court.

And today, Geelong absolutely SHINED and SPARKLED! ✨🏀🌈

From the laughs and new connections to the energy, encouragement and plenty of basketball, the court was filled with exactly what Play with Pride is all about: community, inclusion, belonging and FUN.

A MASSIVE thank you to our incredible Melbourne Spectres crew who popped down to Geelong, jumped on court and joined in the fun! 🫶🏀🌈 Having our Melbourne crew there sharing the Spectres spirit, welcoming new faces and supporting our growing Geelong community made the morning even more special. That’s what the Spectres family is all about! 💜✨

And, of course, a huge thank you to everyone who came along, got involved, cheered each other on and helped make this morning so special. Whether you were picking up a basketball for the first time or already knew your way around the court — you belonged out there. 💖

Ready to hit the court, have some fun and bring your whole self? 💜

The Geelong Spectres are back with our next Play With Pride Basketball session — and everyone is welcome!

Whether you’re an experienced player, completely new to basketball, or just looking for a fun and welcoming way to get active, come down and join us.

🌈🏀 A Huge Thank You to Everyone Who Joined Our First Geelong Spectres – Play with Pride Session! 🏀🌈

What an incredible way to kick things off! A massive thank you to everyone who came along to our very first Geelong Spectres – Play with Pride session. It was fantastic to see so many new and familiar faces bringing their energy, enthusiasm, sparkle, and shine to the court.

Whether you were shooting hoops, meeting new people, sharing a laugh, or simply being part of our growing community, you helped make the evening something truly special. The welcoming, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere is exactly what the Spectres are all about, and it was wonderful to see that spirit come alive in Geelong.

We’re excited about what’s ahead and can’t wait to continue building this amazing community together. Thank you for helping make our first session such a success.

🌈🏀 IT HAPPENED — Play with Pride launched in Geelong today and WOW.

The inaugural Geelong Spectres Play with Pride session just wrapped and we are still buzzing from the energy in that stadium. The Geelong community came through in full force, Progress Pride flag laid out on the court, rainbow basketballs flying, Spectres gear on, smiles all round. Pure. Magic. ✨

Play with Pride was created to be a safe, welcoming, and joyful space for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies to get active, have fun, and connect. Today showed us exactly what that looks like in real life — and it is BEAUTIFUL.

This is just the beginning. We want to make Play with Pride a regular event in Geelong that truly reflects what the community needs — and that means we need to hear from YOU.

Come and celebrate with us at our community “Play With Pride” Open Day TOMORROW, delivered in partnership with Melbourne Spectres Basketball Club and Melbourne United Basketball Club.

🏀 Saturday 13 June 2026 – “Play with Pride” Open Day
⏰ 12pm to 2pm
📍 DeakinACTIVE, Deakin University Waurn Ponds Campus
🙌 Open to everyone aged 16+ and of all abilities

There will be social basketball activities, music, opportunities to connect with others, and information about future participation opportunities for the Geelong Spectres chapter.

For us, Pride Basketball has always been about creating spaces where LGBTQIA+ people and allies feel safe, visible, connected, and genuinely welcomed.

Get ready, Geelong — Pride Basketball is coming to town! 💜

We’re incredibly excited to officially welcome you to the Geelong Spectres Pride Basketball community — a space built on connection, inclusion, community, and pride.

Whether you’re a seasoned player, shooting hoops for the very first time, or simply looking to meet amazing people in a welcoming environment, Geelong Spectres is for you. Come along, have some fun, get active, and be part of something special.

We’re proud that our very first community event is being delivered as a joint initiative between Spectres Australia - Pride Basketball Association, Melbourne Spectres Basketball Club, and Melbourne United Basketball Club — bringing together organisations passionate about inclusive sport, community connection, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome.
